The smaller red wolf is native to southeastern U.S. Yet another species, the Ethiopian wolf, is only found in the highlands of Ethiopia. Wolves are relatives of dogs, but are not dogs and do not make good pets, nor do any dog-wolf mix offspring make good pets. They are not, however, usually considered dangerous to humans and will typically avoid them if possible. They are carnivores and usually go after the older, weaker, sick or young and vulnerable which helps keep that population healthier and more robust.
