The basis for the cult-classic film and the inspiration for a concept album written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis, executive produced by Nas, releasing from Atlantic Records on October 18 Every gang in the city meets on a sweltering July 4 night in a Bronx park for a peace rally. The crowd of miscreants turns violent after a prominent gang leader is killed, and chaos prevails over attempts at order. The Warriors follows the Dominators as they make their nocturnal journey to their home territory without being killed. The police are prowling the city in search of anyone involved in the mayhem. An exhilarating novel that examines New York City teenagers left behind by society, who form identity and personal strength through their affiliation with their "family," The Warriors weaves together social commentary with ancient legends for a classic coming-of-age tale. This edition includes a new introduction by the author.

Names. Everyone has one in one form or another. And every name has a meaning, an origin, and an address. If you have ever been overwhelmed by names and need a scorecard to tell who is who, then your Biblical "who's who" is here. The People includes over 3,400 names. Each name has a meaning, a story and a place in scripture. Some of the chapters in the Bible you never thought would make sense, like Chronicles, are sorted out, and each name is explained. What a blessing!
In Beyond the Quagmire, thirteen scholars from across disciplines provide a series of provocative, important, and timely essays on the politics, combatants, and memory of the Vietnam War. Americans believed that they were supposed to win in Vietnam. As veteran and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Philip Caputo observed in A Rumor of War, “we carried, along with our packs and rifles, the implicit convictions that the Viet Cong would be quickly beaten and that we were doing something altogether noble and good.” By 1968, though, Vietnam looked less like World War II’s triumphant march and more like the brutal and costly stalemate in Korea. During that year, the United States paid dearly as nearly 17,000 perished fighting in a foreign land against an enemy that continued to frustrate them. Indeed, as Caputo noted, “We kept the packs and rifles; the convictions, we lost.” It was a time of deep introspection as questions over the legality of American involvement, political dishonesty, civil rights, counter-cultural ideas, and American overreach during the Cold War congealed in one place: Vietnam. Just as Americans fifty years ago struggled to understand the nation’s connection to Vietnam, scholars today, across disciplines, are working to come to terms with the long and bloody war—its politics, combatants, and how we remember it. The essays in Beyond the Quagmire pose new questions, offer new answers, and establish important lines of debate regarding social, political, military, and memory studies. The book is organized in three parts. Part 1 contains four chapters by scholars who explore the politics of war in the Vietnam era. In Part 2, five contributors offer chapters on Vietnam combatants with analyses of race, gender, environment, and Chinese intervention. Part 3 provides four innovative and timely essays on Vietnam in history and memory. In sum, Beyond the Quagmire pushes the interpretive boundaries of America’s involvement in Vietnam on the battlefield and off, and it will play a significant role in reshaping and reinvigorating Vietnam War historiography.
With Xlibris, Kimbra Eberly is thrilled that her first anthology shines the spotlight on a compelling range of pieces that grew out of the group she established, The Writer’s Bloc. Visit www.kimbraeberly.net to learn more. Kimbra Eberly founded "The Writers Bloc" meetup group at Hub17 in February 2023, providing writers with a location to come together, work, share ideas, and enhance their writing skills. Poets, scriptwriters, and storytellers alike were all welcomed. It wasn't long until she realized they all shared a common objective: to overcome creative slowdowns and just do the work. It was then that she thought about setting a goal: Kimbra informed the group that they were going to publish a book so that their works could be seen by a wider audience. This became the heart of this anthology: a collection of short stories, poems, memoirs, & scripts from this group of amazing writers -- some amateur and a few that are award-winning. The stories are powerful, diverse, and beautifully written. They explore love, joy and heartbreak, some with historic references, some cultural, some deeply psychological and horrifying. All are captivating. This collection includes 24 pieces from 11 writers. The book also is filled with original artwork throughout. Kimbra is proud to be presenting this first volume on behalf of “The Writer’s Bloc.”
