Excerpt from Vinton's Poems: Translations, Miscellaneous, Sacred and Humorous Perhaps no one was ever more keenly sensible of the vanity of human hopes than I am at the present time, to see the various typographical errors that have escaped my notice until it is too late to correct them, and to know that I must bear the charge of negligence. Some of the poems were written while engaged in Sunday School work, and were at that time adapted to music and copyrighted by myself; but, of course, any of them may be Copied by others if the common cour tesy of proper acknowledgement be made. Though the whole performance may possess but little merit in the eyes of some, still, I believe there is nothing in the volume that can mislead an honest mind, or can be construed as a desire, on my part, to teach error. Hoping that any who may read my book may find something in it to please and instruct, I remain a wisher of much good to all. J. D. V. More than sixty years ago, God gave Eleanor Vinton a dream to write and publish a book of poems. Through the years several attempts were made to do that. All her efforts failed, despite the fact that He continued to give her poems. During the twenty-five years she walked away from Him, God continued to give her poems. Eleanor felt that God wanted these included in this book for others to identify with so that they, too, may enter His healing and find the abundant life of His magnificent love, joy and peace. In the fall of 2016, Eleanor felt that God was saying, "Now is the time to publish the poems I have given you." Even now, God is saying to the people that it is the time to plunge into His presence and sing the song of "A Soul Set Free."
Collection of works are mostly poems to the Christmas season, the "Flag of Freedom" is a poem issued during World War One.
This is the final volume in The Works of John Dryden and the last volume of poetry written by Dryden before he died in 1700.
Volumes V and VI concern Dryden's most involved labor: the complete translation of Virgil into English. Volume VI contains books 7-12 of The Aeneid, as well as commentary and textual notes to the full works of Virgil translated in these two volumes.
