Toronto is arguably one of the biggest cities in Canada. One can argue that Toronto is one of the biggest cities in the world and is forever growing on an international scale when it comes to recognition and familiarity. Toronto is home to many groups that a nation can rally behind. This makes Toronto a home where every Canadian can feel warm when visiting. One of the best-known reasons why Toronto is an important city in Canada and the world is all the places that are nestled inside this town. Many attractions draw a crowd to Toronto. Want to see outstanding architecture? We got it. Want to see natural beauty? We got it too. From old locations to new, Toronto is full of amazing locations well known and secretive. Although not all places in Toronto can be described in the poems of this book, as this city is ever-growing and is already huge, I have written a collection of poems in different styles to try and encapsulate the feeling of such an interesting city.

Since the election of Mayor David Miller in November 2003, Toronto has experienced a wave of civic pride and enthusiasm not felt in decades. This is the first annotated anthology of Canadian poetry and prose, from the eighteenth century to the present. Volume I contains the work of 40 writers. Some 200 pages are devoted to poetry and 350 pages to prose, which includes not only short fiction but five autobiographical pieces, eight essays of literary criticism, and a play. There are many cross-connections - in related subject matter, in the criticism and memoirs that reflect on other selections - so that the anthology offers a firm context for the study not only of individual writers but of the literary culture of Canada. Native Poetry in Canada: A Contemporary Anthology is the only collection of its kind. It brings together the poetry of many authors whose work has not previously been published in book form alongside that of critically-acclaimed poets, thus offering a record of Native cultural revival as it emerged through poetry from the 1960s to the present. Since its inception in 1974, Canadian Theatre Review has been one of the most important publishers of new Canadian plays. With a script in each issue, CTR has introduced new writers and advocated new approaches to Canadian drama. This volume brings together fifteen of the most significant plays published in CTR between 1974 and 1991. Most have been out of print since their appearance in the journal. They include recognized classics that have transformed Canadian theatre, such as "Ten Lost Years" and "This is for You, Anna," and lesser-known plays by such major writers as Robert Lepage and George F. Walker. Taken together these plays not only expand the boundaries of Canadian drama; they also document an important and exciting period in Canadian theatre. Birthed at the popular open-mic series, La Parole, T-Dot Griots is an intimate journey through previously undocumented Canadian experiences, reporting from Toronto's black communities in fiction, poetry, articles, plays and songs. The book features contributions by over forty writers of African descent, either raised in or residing in Toronto. The griot is a West African storyteller, traditionally responsible for presiding over all of the important milestones in the life a community. The griot carried the important function of preserving the community's history and culture through songs and recitations.
