This paper presents a method for calculating the Value of Travel Time (VTT) for vehicles in the Vancouver Region. . VTT measures the time-related, as opposed to distance/usage-related, costs of travel. Three categories of vehicles were analyzed: 1) passenger cars, personal vans and pick-up trucks; 2) light commercial vehicles; and 3) heavy commercial vehicles. VTT for city busses in the Vancouver Region is covered in a companion working paper titled Value of Travel Time for the BC Transit Bus Fleet in the Vancouver Region.
