Excerpt from The Tarkasangraha of Annam Bhatta: With His Own Gloss (the Dipika) And an English Translation Under these circumstances, the Editor has ventured to publish this work, with the View of rendering some service to the stu dents of the Tarkasangraha. The translation which accompa nies the text in the present edition is for the most part copied, with such alterations as seemed necessary, from the translation which appeared in an edition of the Tarkasangraha published in 1851 at Allahabad, which is now out of print. Both the te t and the gloss are copied from an edition which was pub lished some years ago in Bombay. This publication is further recommended by a very carefully prepared Index of the mostimportant and technical terms used in the text, - which will be found to add greatly to the utility of the present undertaking. Nothing remains now to be said except that no pains are spared to make the work as useful as possible. It is, therefore, to be hoped that the efforts of the Editor in making this attempt at facilitating the study of Sanskrit Literature will meet with favour and approval from the students of the Sanskrit Language.
