Charles G. Finney (1792-1875) was one of the most successful of the 19th century evangelists. His ministry efforts influenced the likes of William Booth and D. L. Moody along with a whole host of lesser known pastors, teachers, evangelists and missionaries. While his itinerant ministry has been well documented, lesser known are the miracles that he recorded experiencing in his Memoirs. Here, perhaps for the first time, an attempt has been made to compile and analyze these experiences in an attempt to answer the enduring question of whether miracles ended with the completion of the Canon of Scripture or if they will continue until the Second Coming.

The world over millions of Christiansattend churches whose roots can betraced back to the ministry of an Anglicanpriest named John Wesley. These includethe Methodists, Nazarenes, Pentecostals,Wesleyans and Charismatics. However, most of these people know very littleabout the amazing power that wasdemonstrated in the life of this humble andChrist-like individual. Compiled here are theaccounts from Wesley's own journal inwhich he records demons being cast outthrough the power of Christ, individualsfalling down, slain in the Spirit while hepreached, supernatural visions, dreamsand cases of miraculous healing from hisown day. Also included are Wesley'sinterpretation of the Baptism of the HolySpirit, his opinion on how to appropriatelyview miracles and the final word fromWesley on whether or not he had the giftof tongues.
Written by a Presbyterian preacher in the 1800's this book is revered by some and considered heresy by others. The arguments given in Finney's various lectures will cause many to consider their own positions and seek to justify what they believe. Finney deals with many different subjects going from moral law, government, love, depravity and other diverse but important subjects. Regardless of what your own position on these subjects are, this work is a good masterpiece of religious thought but the ideas and reasons for Finney's arguments may leave theologians wondering if such thinking is something we should be keeping around.
