Discover the exciting adventures of Sam Gunn --- first man to rig a still on the moon; and Chet Kinsman, first to try zero-gee seduction. The man who tamed hurricans and the man whose vision of orbital immortality lost him all he loved on Earth. The day politics, media and bio-engineering met, and the day an assassin took aim on the stars . . . Plus the equally thrilling stories of the real pioneers of space industry and defence; Carl Sagan's quest to find intelligent life in the universe; how wealth and riches fall from the sky; and the potential pleasure of romance in orbit. This book provides a fundamental understanding of clouds, from microphysics to climate, with supplementary problem sets and questions.
Rain or shine, they will always be best friends, and since one loves the rain and the other loves the sun, the friends agree for one day that they will try to enjoy what the other loves to do most. Cloudy Rain loves to do cartwheels, backflips and splash puddles in the rain. But not Rain Forrest, he hates the rain. He doesn't want to play in it, nor go outside when it pours down from the highest clouds in the sky, and he certainly doesn't want his soggy friend close by when he's been soaked by the rain. Yet, on any sunny day, it's Rain Forrest whose brightness shines. He doesn't want a shady old oak tree, a big beach umbrella, or creamy creams. He simply wants to bake in the sun until he glows like Saturn because according to him "the sun is the mother who tans me." Cloudy Rain fulfills his part of the agreement. While the best friends have many exciting and life changing adventures that will test just how strong their friendship really is, Rain Forrest hasn't stepped up to fulfill his end of the agreement. When the best friends are separated by one of their adventures, and there's a possibility they will never reunite, Rain Forrest steps up, and he takes the biggest of leaps to search for his best friend.

The book is conceived at two levels. An introductory one intended for undergraduate and/or environmental studies students and the other (in the appendix) for advanced students (graduate). The book is different from others on the same subject which are either too descriptive or too much specialized. Beside there are large sections on biogeochemistry not usually found in other textbooks. Whenever possible an approach based on entropy considerations is introduced. The book includes a quite classical introduction to the thermodynamics of ocean and atmosphere, then the circulation of the ocean and atmosphere, the connection climate-chemistry with main emphasis on the carbon dioxide problem. The chemistry is also considered in connection with the polluted atmosphere and ocean and particulate in the atmosphere . A chapter is dedicated to the biogeochemical cycles which are solved both with the integration of a system of equations or matrix algebra. An original chapter is dedicated to sea-atmosphere interactions which includes the monsoons meteorology, hurricanes and the ENSO phenomena. Finally a concise description of the fluid environments in the Solar System is given.
