It's not often you find a fictional story that the author actually lived. Everything from magic, dragons, elves, orcs, and every thing else you'd expect to find in a fantasy story. But let me back up just a moment. Were I to claim that I lived the trials within this book with no other explanation, you'd call me crazy. The details of this story have been skewed slightly, as not every story is worth telling without embellishment. But the majority of the events herein, were experienced by myself, as the author, and many others. We are a part of a LARP, or Live Action Role Playing group in Southwest Missouri. In the game we've faced a great many challenges and obstacles all the while, building our characters lives as if they were our own. Which, in a sense, they are. But you aren't reading this to hear about the many years I spent in this fantasy world. You're here to determine if reading this book is worth your time. I'm a bit biased, but I'd like to say that it is. It's not a prefect book, but it's enjoyable to say the least. When asked what it's about, I typically respond that "it's an epic fantasy about a group of guys drawn together by fate to stop a dark god from taking over their world." But in reality, it's so much more. I built the characters, based on the personalities of the people I've spend so many years of my life around. I included the pain and loss that we sometimes suffered, but also gave the characters life by expressing their sense of humor in the most dire of situations. I made them feel. I made them love. And I made them as real as possible. They may not be the heroes you want. But they're the heroes that will get the job done. The Order of the Trident isn't just a story about a group of warriors. It's a bond created by misfortune and fate. It's a brotherhood, a family that bands together when things get tough. And by reading this story, I hope that you'll feel as much a part of it as the characters within. I can't promise it will be the best thing you've read. But I can promise that you'll laugh, and hopefully cry. As a writer, it's my job to ensure you feel like you're a part of the story and I truly hope I've been able to accomplish that. So please, give it a chance. And if you enjoy reading it, even a fraction as much as I enjoyed writing it, please leave a review so that others can have the chance to experience it for themselves. From the Back Cover: An oily smoke searched the streets of Eldarian, seeping through any opening it could find. Overnight, the population of Dalari disappeared, abandoning infants and elderly alike. Only the strongest would suffice. Forsaking the need for sustenance, they labored ceaselessly, driven by the geas of their master. Upon knee, they bowed before their new king, awakened to the glory of shadow. The Dreualfar turn to complete their next task. Thousands of Dreualfar swarmed upon unsuspecting lands. Entire settlements were left in ruin. A last stand of Dalari and Alfar pushed back, halting their progression. With balance shifted, the Dreualfar are forced underground and sealed away. Generations of men and gods work to right the wrongs. Overtime many forgot the evil trapped beneath their feet. In a new age, the shadow began to rise. From the ashes of death, four warriors become five, a union forged of blood and fire, The Order of the Trident."
