Different as they may be in their theological, political and social points of view, they are all uhited in trying to describe the events and affairs, religious and otherwise, as objectively and impartially as possible. It is hoped that the articles in this volume will contribute much to the proper understanding and appreciation of Christianity in present day Japan. This year may seem to be a less eventful than the years of the Protestant Centenary (1959) and the World Convention of Christian Education Nevertheless, this has been an eventful year. The significance of the several events must be properly appraised. Mr. Muto is an excellent writ er who gives an unprejudiced observation on social affairs from a Christian point of View. Dr. Kuwada's article on religious freedom will throw much light on our understand ing of the shinto-shrine problem in this country. It is an article worth perusal.
