Excerpt from The Constitution of the Philadelphia Society for the Establishment and Support of Charity Schools: Incorporated the Eight Day of September, 1801 The president, or, in his absence, the vice-president, or, in the absence of both, a president pro tem, shall preside at all meetings, and subscribe all public acts of the society. In all questions (when a ballot is taken excepted) where an equal division of voices happen, he shall have a casting vote; and shall call a special meeting of the society, when five members concur in requesting it.
