Castalanio's Best is the story of Jack, a young man whose desire for excitement and adventure lead him to quit college and join the army during the early days the Korean War. There, two Korean soldiers help Jack become an expert at martial arts. Returning to the U.S., Jack encounters an unscrupulous Sergeant at an army replacement center who wants to cancel Jack's leave after he loses a contest to him. Jack takes refuge in the backroom of a restaurant with three friends in order to elude the Sergeant. Jack meets a woman there, who will later become his wife. Jack reports to a new assignment and is offered a promotion if he will volunteer for duty at a classified private research center. Unknown to Jack, military men who have terminal diseases have come to the center and agreed to be guinea pigs for medical research. Why has Jack been sent there? Is there something unique about him that the military is privy to? What revelations unfold that will open doors for Jack that he never dreamed possible? About the Author: S.C. Davis was born in Arkansas, lived in Minnesota and Texas, then moved to Los Angeles at the outbreak of World War II, later joining the army during the Korean War.He has worked as an independent over-the-road trucker, restaurant owner, Deputy Marshal, and is retired from the Texas Dept. of Criminal Justice's Institutional Division.
