The key to spiritual and emotional health is to grasp the truth of God's transforming love for us and then let that reality influence our own hearts and relationships. It seems simple, but we are experts at complicating simple things. Instead of living lives characterized by love we find ourselves trapped in cycles of shame, violence, and addiction that steal our joy and keep us from loving others--so much so that, by all indications, Christians are living no differently than anyone else when it comes to abuse rates, use of pornography, alcohol and drug addiction, and more. Christian psychiatrist Dr. Timothy Jennings wants to release us from this prison. With powerful illustrations from case studies and from Scripture, Jennings shows believers who are stuck in addiction, violence, fear, and broken relationships how to experience true freedom through God's transforming love to experience greater health, fulfillment, and well-being.
The life of Abram, whom God later renamed Abraham, was depicted in 14 chapters of the Bible (Genesis 12-25). In those chapters, we get to see: 1. Jesus as the perfect Image of God’s love. 2. Jesus as faith personified; 3. Salvation through Christ crucified; 4. The Covenants of Law and Love; 5. God’s wisdom in saving fallen humanity. Fear seemed to be the mainstay of Abram’s life. However, God transferred Abram from the snares of fear into the Kingdom of His love (Colossians 1:13-14). He transformed Abram to Abraham. God did that by instilling faith in Abram with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was categorically stated in Galatians 3:8 that God preached the Gospel to Abraham (Romans 10:17). Throughout the life of Abraham, God kept directing his attention to His love for him that is seen in Christ crucified (2 Corinthians 3:18, Galatians 3:8; John 8:56). Jesus Christ and Him crucified is the display and proof of God’s unlimited love for us (Romans 5:7-8, 8:39, Amplified Bible). God loves us (John 16:27, Amplified Bible). This is truth. It is this very truth that sets us free (John 8:31-32, 36). Abraham is called the father of all who believe in the Gospel of Jesus (Romans 4:16). As stated in Galatians 3:9, we are blessed along with Abraham in that same faith. Faith is in essence divine persuasion. God persuades us to believe in His love for us with the death, burial, and resurrection of His beloved Son in Human form as Jesus of Nazareth. This book traces the growth and transformation of Abram to Abraham. So sit back, relax, and behold how God unveiled His love for Abram that is in Jesus Christ and Him crucified. As the pages unfold, I pray that God also transforms us in the same way he did Abram.
Drawn from the many books, writings, and interviews by Richard Rohr, one of the most popular spiritual writers today, this collections introduces many of the teachings for which he has become known, all organized around the central theme of Love.
God wants your heart... The Psalms are in a category of their own. They are not just commanding; they are contagious. And they can change us. Tears, affliction, shame, regret, grief, anger, discouragement, turmoil...we hear all these cries, we feel their overflow, and we see that all these things happen in relation to our totally sovereign God.

Discover the tools to create a new kind of church and move from merely surviving to thriving. Drawing on an extensive two-year field study of 200 churches from a variety of denominations and geographic regions, Milfred Minatrea--a missiologist, urban strategist and practioner in minister--presents the best practices for re-energizing Christian spirituality in a congregational setting. He provides readers with the tools for assessing their congregation’s position on the continuum between maintenance and mission and for determining the actions that will move them toward becoming a missional community. He also outlines key strategies that successful churches have used to become relevant in a postmodern society without losing what is distinctly Christian in their spiritual practices. Milfred Minatrea (Irving, TX) is Director of the Missional Church Center for the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
