Rockingham County is bordered on the north by Pittsylvania and Henry counties, Virginia; on the east by Caswell County; on the south by Guilford County; and on the west by Stokes. It was formed in 1785 from Guilford County. This book contains Will Books A-C, plus "Old Wills" which were a group of wills discovered in 1957 and were dated prior to 1804.
The family history and descendants of Robert Martin, Sr. (1750-1822) of Rockingham County, North Carolina and his brother Samuel Martin, Esq. (1748-1790) of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, and the allied families of Settle, Douglas, Broach, Napier, Jarratt, Lawson and Scales.
The abstracts are arranged alphabetically under each county by the names of the testators, with the dates of the wills and the names of wives and children.
