Excerpt from Prerequisites to Communion: The Scriptural Terms of Admission to the Lord's Supper The first qualification which I mention as re quired, on scriptural principles, in those who come to the Lord's table, is, that they be avowed disciples of Christ. There is no apparent reason why'any others should wish to partake of the Lord's Supper; its nature and design are such that no others can suitably partake of it; nor can any others find in Scripture any warrant for par taking of it. At the time When the Lord insti tuted this ordinance, only his chosen dlsciples were with him. He sat down with the twelve.1 He took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples.
