The demographic trends and financial constraints in the Nordic countries, and all over Europe, are posing challenges, especially in the health care sectors. The rising number of elderly with 'new' diseases, as well as new technology and inventions, create a growing demand for health care services and health care personnel. The aim of this report is to establish a clearer picture of the challenges in the future health care sectors in the Nordic countries, especially in terms of lack of health care personnel, and the strategies and initiatives implemented for recruitment and retention of personnel.
The Sustainable Nordic Welfare programme implements the Nordic Prime Ministers’ request that the Nordic Ministers for Health and Social Affairs prepare tangible proposals for how Nordic co-operation on health matters can be developed. At the Nordic Prime Ministers Meeting on 10 June 2012, the health ministers were asked to review, in particular, the Nordic co-operation on testing of new drugs and treatments, highly specialised functions, and research on health and welfare.
This Handbook presents established and innovative perspectives on involving older adults as co-creators in ageing research. It reorients research and policy toward more inclusive and adequate designs that capture the voices and needs of older adults. The Handbook: introduces types of participatory approaches in ageing research; highlights key methodological aspects of these approaches; gives insights from projects across different cultural contexts and academic disciplines, showing ways in which older participants can be involved in co-designing different stages of the research cycle; examines key issues to consider when involving older participants at each step of the research process; includes the voices of older adults directly; draws out conclusions and points ways forward for future research. This Handbook will be essential reading for researchers and students interested in the field of ageing and/ or participatory methods, as well as for those policy stakeholders in the fields of ageing and demographic change, social and public policy, or health and wellbeing who are interested in involving older adults in policy processes. It will be useful for third-sector advocacy organizations and international non-governmental and public agencies working either in citizen involvement/participation or the ageing sector.

This book gathers cutting-edge research and best practices relating to occupational risk and safety management, healthcare, and ergonomics. It covers strategies for different industries, such as construction, chemical and healthcare. It emphasizes challenges posed by automation, discusses solutions offered by technologies, and reports on case studies carried out in different countries. Chapters are based on selected contributions to the 20th International Symposium on Occupational Safety and Hygiene (SHO 2023), held on July 20-21, 2023, in Portugal, as a hybrid event. By reporting on different perspectives, such as the ones from managers, employees, and OSH professionals, and covering timely issues, such as implications of telework, issues related to gender inequality and applications of machine learning techniques in occupational health, this book offers extensive information and a source of inspiration to OSH researchers, practitioners and organizations operating in both local and global contexts.
Vsi predstavljeni primeri so rezultat večletnih znanstvenoraziskovalnih prizadevanj in aktivnega delovanja avtorjev v različnih projektih s področja mobilnosti.
This book explores the leading role played by nursing science in the European Nordic countries. Recognized leaders in nursing research from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, reflect on the leadership of nurses, the societal developments and the state of nursing science in their country, and the successes and remaining challenges nurses are facing. The book highlights representative leadership projects focusing on e.g. evidenced-based clinical practice, education and research that have impacted patient and healthcare outcomes in each country. The book shows how nursing, as a scientific discipline, has been developing rapidly in these five Nordic countries. They have more nurses per capita than other countries (OECD 2016) and healthcare is provided to all citizens. Moreover, nursing qualification in the Nordic countries was based on university education early on, and there are more professors of nursing than in other countries. Accordingly, this book on Leadership in nursing within the Nordic countries shares essential and pioneering expertise that will benefit nurses and nurse scientists around the globe.
