Directory, 1918-1919, Vol. 9 There are three railways: the Southern, Seaboard Air Line and norfolk-southern Raleigh is located midway between New York and Florida; is in close touch with all parts of the State, from the sea to the mountains; has sixty passenger trains daily. Lands have doubled and in many cases trebled in value during the past five years; the country in this vicinity produces a great variety of crops, including corn, cotton, small grain, tobacco sorghum, peas and all sorts of truck, and in the county of Wake, of which Raleigh is the county seat, the corn-growing record of the United States has been broken by the production of 226 bushels on an acre, and the cotton-growing record by the production of bales to the acre.
