Excerpt from Proceedings of the Massachusetts Historical Society, Vol. 1: 1907, 1908 Beside the tributes paid to deceased members, five memoirs of Resident Members are printed that of Daniel Henry Chamberlain, by Mr. Gilbert; that of Peleg Whitman Chandler, by Mr. Stanwood that of Henry Gardner Denny, by Mr. Shaw; that of Samuel Edward Herrick, by Dr. Gordon; and that of Solomon Lincoln, by john D. Long. Four of these are accompanied by photogravure portraits. The consolidated index of the Second Series of the Proceedings is in press, and will probably be published before the next annual meeting. The By Laws of the Society now in use, the result of a careful revision, are included in the proceedings of the April meeting, 1908. This revision, printed together with a new draft of the Short Account of the Society, by Mr. Smith, and a complete list of the officers and members of the So'ciety from its beginning to the time of publication, has been distributed in book form.
