Excerpt from Journal of the Proceedings of the Seventh Annual Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church, in the State of North-Carolina: Held in the Church at Salisbury, on Thursday, April 10th; Friday, April 11th; Saturday, April 12th; And Monday, April 14th, 1823 The Rev. Adam empie was elected President, and the Rev. R. S. Mason Secretary of the Convention. Certificates of organization for the two following Churches were presented; and the said Churches, in compliance with their petition, were admitted into union, viz: St. Andrew's Church, Burke co. Presented by the Rev. R. J. Miller, and St. Stephen's Church, Oxford, by the Rev. Wm. M. Green. The following persons then appeared as Delegates from the said Churches, and were admitted to seats in the Convention - viz: Mark Henderson from St. Stephen's Church, Oxford, and Joseph Lever from St. Andrew's Church, Burke co. The following persons were appointed by the Presi dent a committee to examine the certificates Of delegation and report who were entitled to seats in this house Rev. Messrs. Hooper and mason, and Duncan Cameron, Esq. On motion, Resolved, that candidates for orders in this Church, who may be present during the sitting Of this Convention, be admitted to honorary seats.
