Owned is book 1 of the Blood Warriors MC trilogy. Books 2 and 3, Owned by the Biker and Owned by the Outlaw are available everywhere now! I BOUGHT HER SO SHE COULD GIVE ME A CHILD. I need a son to fulfill my father's last wishes. The pretty bartender is perfect for the job: hot, lonely, and desperate. Now, I own all of her – from her lips to her womb. And she's going to have my baby. It sure as hell wasn't how I saw my life going. I'm a biker, after all, not some loser dad with a white picket fence and 2.3 annoying children. I drink, I fight, I screw. I definitely don't babysit. But even for a rebel like myself, some things simply must be done. My father begged me on his deathbed to give him a grandchild. Plus, he made it a requirement of my inheritance. Fine. As you wish, Pops. One baby, coming up. But the women in my life are hardly fit for conversation, much less reproducing. I need someone a little different. That's where Star came in. She's as tough as they come, but more importantly, she's desperate for some money. I can give her that. In exchange, I want all of her. I want to see that sexy little grin. To touch that tight little body. And to give her a night that she will never forget – at least, not for nine months afterwards. I'll do whatever I want with this vixen. After all, I own her now.
Chronicles of a Biker is a compilation of anecdotes which Shaun Donovan wrote during his 12 years of riding (and racing) motor-cycles between 1975 and 1987. Now, in 2012, some 36 years after writing his first memoirs of a misspent youth, Shaun has encapsulated dozens of these truly memorable and remarkable (and in some cases unbelievable) stories into one book. In the first few chapters, read how Shaun survives an onslaught of terrifying crashes, each one leaving him with several broken bones -or huge chunks of flesh hanging from his battered body, as he lives-on to fight another day. Also included are the tales of his unlawful misdemeanours, as he is continually chased and caught by the police, culminating in several endorsements, along with the loss of his driving licence on no fewer than two occasions! The second-half of the book is dedicated to three amazing journeys which he undertook between July 1981 and August 1983. Spanning a distance of nearly 15,000km on the road (and a further 2,000 nautical miles on ferries), Shaun traverses 13 countries, 1 principality and several islands in Western Europe, before crossing continents into North Africa, to say his first Hello to the countries of Morocco and Tunisia. Apart from crashing in Spain, dodging psychopathic drivers in Italy and having to put-up with various punctures and breakdowns, Shaun has a whale of a time with various friends and partners, as he crosses the Pyrenees Mountains, glides over the Austrian Alps, and blasts his way up and down the motorways of western Europe, discovering a handful of paradise beaches, dozens of quaint little villages -and several wonders of the world before his triple-adventure is finally at an end. Just like Shauns first two books, (Battle of the Greyhounds, Part I - America, and Battle of the greyhounds, Part II Australia,), which tell the stories of his epic journeys as he circumnavigates these vast continents by Greyhound Bus, Shaun writes every biking tale with such conviction and an unprecedented passion, that one could truly believe they were riding pillionpassenger with him from start to finish.
There are millions of new motorcyclists hitting the blacktop every year. But being part of the American motorcycle culture takes more than just wanting to be cool. It takes a passion for the open road, freedom, and a lifestyle that even the best financing cant buy. This book, by someone who knows motorcycles as few do, provides a road map to biker culture for anyone new to the experience. Jay Barbieri explains everything a new rider needs to know to become a real biker. He begins with a brief history of motorcycles, and draws on his twenty-five years of riding experience for examples of what works and doesn't in this heady world. Most of all, he aims to spare new bikers the bad decisions neophytes typically make. With hundreds of motorcycle trips under his belt, there is not a mistake Barbieri hasn't made or a situation he hasn't encountered. By sharing the sometimes comical outcomes, he gives the new biker a head start to become more comfortable, credible, and knowledgeable about joining a community that is as much a part of American culture as baseball, hotdogs and apple pie.
In Biker Chicz of North America, Edward Winterhalder and Wil De Clercq have compiled in-depth profiles of twenty-two fascinating women who ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Each chapter features an individual whose life story is compelling, intriguing, fascinating, and inspirational. While each woman featured in this book is unique and extraordinary in her own right, there are, not surprisingly, certain attributes they all have in common. In addition to being avowed motorcycle riders they live to ride and ride to live they are successful, intelligent, freethinking, adventurous, creative, inspiring, and tenacious. They are women who have followed their dreams and dared to live life on their own terms. All are survivors who boldly took on challenges that many of us men or women would find daunting. Some of them came by their success easily, others by triumphing over adversity. Despite their common traits, most are as different as night and day. Some are introverted, others extroverted; some are family oriented, others are loners. They ll be the first to admit, however, that without their Harleys, they would not be who they are today. Their beloved motorcycles are what defines them and what sets them apart from their nonriding sisters.
Reading Jack Kerouac’s classic On the Road through Virginia Woolf’s canonical A Room of One’s Own, the author of this book examines a genre in North American literature which, despite its popularity, has received little attention in literary and cultural criticism: women’s road narratives. The study shows how women’s literature has inscribed itself into the American discourse of the Whitmanesque “open road”, or, more generally, the “freedom of the road”. Women writers have participated in this powerful American myth, yet at the same time also have rejected that myth as fundamentally based on gendered and racial/ethnic hierarchies and power structures, and modified it in the process of writing back to it. The book analyzes stories about female runaways, outlaws, questers, adventurers, kidnappees, biker chicks, travelling saleswomen, and picaras and makes theoretical observations on the debates regarding discourses of spatiality and mobility—debates which have defined the so-called spatial turn in the humanities. The analytical concept of transdifference is introduced to theorize the dissonant plurality of social and cultural affiliations as well as the narrative tensions produced by such pluralities in order to better understand the textual worlds of women’s multiple belongings as they are present in these writings. Roads of Her Own is thus not only situated in the broader context of a constructivist cultural studies, but also, by discussing narrative mobility under the sign of gender, combines insights from social theory and philosophy, feminist cultural geography, and literary studies. Without a big budget, special effects team, or professional actors and crew members, Herschell Gordon Lewis created films that he himself admits were trash. Yet, while Gordon's softcore porn (The Adventures of Lucky Pierre) and heavy-duty gore (The Gruesome Twosome) were never blockbuster films, they were popular drive-in fare in the sixties and seventies. They have had a strong influence over more recent productions, and they have created for Lewis his own special niche in the world of exploitation and horror film. The history of Lewis the man and the filmmaker is a surprising one. Behind titles like Blood Feast and The Gore-Gore Girls is a warm and friendly gentleman whose road to his own brand of film glory was paved with disappointments, surprising successes, and lots and lots of fake blood. His career is examined in detail, with personal anecdotes and insights into making really gross movies on really small budgets. A filmography is included, and photographs, many of them rare, complement the text.
This is an open access book.Adaptive, Resilient & Collaborative EngineeringTowards Faster Recovery & Impactful Solutions The world in the last decade has been facing global issues such as accelerated global warming, depleting natural resources, food waste and scarcity, water contamination and shortage, energy conservation, etc. Enter the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and we face what people term as double disruption. Not only solutions to the above problems are becoming more critical, but they are also needed fast. Timely and effective solutions are called for so that we can recover from the pandemic while at the same time carry our efforts to better our world. It is no longer sufficient to find solutions that can only delay the negative impacts from the above problems, but it is imperative to tip the balance and reverse the impacts to our advantage. Engineers and engineering have a vital role in inventing mechanisms, systems, and/or products that can address the solutions. Digital technologies and artificial intelligence have been at the forefront of such exploration and we can expect some hints for a better future, if we continue being adaptive, resilient, and collaborative. Given the above background, Faculty of Engineering - Universitas Surabaya, will host the fourth bi-annual international conference “The 4th International Conference on Informatics, Technology and Engineering 2023 (InCITE 2023)” in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, September 14th–15th, 2023. This event is a continuation of the past events successfully held in 2017, 2019, and 2021. We invite academia and business practitioners all around the globe to share ideas and best practices relevant to the above conference topic. We hope that this event can also serve as a platform of gathering for anyone interested in exploring potential solutions of our common problems today. Accepted and presented paper will be submitted for publication in reputable International Proceeding (Atlantis Press). See you in Yogyakarta!
