On September 5, 2008, Abraham Lambrechtse died of a massive stroke. I was overwhelmed with sadness for the lost of my friend, Bram. I was honored to be asked to write his obituary, and after his memorial service, I decided that the test way to me, a writer, to honor Bram further would be to write a book about him. I interviewed his partner, his friends and siblings. I read everything I could find about the history of The Netherlands. I wanted to understand the history and culture from which Bram came. I made long lists of everything that I knew about him. And then I put together this book, a tribute to my friend's life. It is my hope to share this memory with his family and friends... and perhaps even those that enjoy a description of a fascinating soul.
Grandma Frump Kitty and the Raggle-Taggle Gang is the story of a motley crew of feral cats living in the backyard of a benevolent woman's house on W Street in Sacramento, California. They come from a long line of very accomplished jewel thieves, but one day Grandma Frump Kitty realizes that her grandchildren are getting soft living on the handouts of the woman of the house. She decides to get them fit and trained for the family business. Then Herbie, a fat little striped fellow, finds his way into a house and makes a big mistake. He's trapped, but a little girl named Estelle rescues him. Herbie is living the life of luxury when Estelle falls ill, and he comes up with a unique way to save her. It is a funny, but sweet tale of jewel thieves, a warm hearted little cat who falls in love with a special girl, and how the cats and community come together to save her.
