Discover the Heart and Soul of America's Farmland In the epic saga of Mother Earth vs Corporate Greed, the narrative unfolds through the eyes of the Kennedy family, whose legacy of ranching and farming brings to life the untold struggles and triumphs of America's farmers and ranchers. This tale is more than just a story; it's a deep dive into the betrayal of these steadfast guardians of the land at the hands of corrupt government programs and unbridled corporate avarice. At the heart of this compelling book is the emotional connection to the land--a bond forged through generations, epitomized by Howard and Dorothy Kennedy's legacy. This bond is tested as they navigate the treacherous waters of modern agriculture, pitted against the might of external pressures. Their story is a beacon of motivation, prompted by the urgent need to expose these ordeals and advocate for change. From the humble beginnings at the Kennedy Ranch to the relentless battle against the tides of change and exploitation, readers are taken on a journey through the daily life, traditions, and survival strategies of a family deeply rooted in the heart of America's agricultural heritage. Challenges from government policies, corporate interests, and climate change are woven into personal anecdotes, highlighting the larger picture of an industry in crisis. Yet, amidst these struggles, there emerges a powerful message of resilience, community support, and hope for the future. Explore chapters devoted to the advocacy for environmental sustainability, the importance of preserving water rights, the fight against GMOs, the balance between technology and tradition, and the empowerment of consumers to make ethical choices. Witness how education, community building, and a strong adherence to ethical practices in farming and ranching play a pivotal role in steering the future of sustainable agriculture. This book is more than a testament to the trials and tribulations of a way of life under siege; it is a call to action--a plea for the reader to stand in solidarity with those who feed our nations, to support sustainable, ethical farming, and to ensure a thriving future for America's heartland. Dive into the Kennedy's story and emerge empowered, enlightened, and ready to make a difference.

Life doesn't come with an instruction manual. We are all born with different circumstances and opportunities and learn from our mistakes and experiences. The knowledge and wisdom gained are invaluable and make us stronger in mind, body and Spirit. Chris details navigating obstacles of alcohol and drug abuse, severe depression, heart break and loss from a long term relationship, being near bankruptcy and just about wanting to "throw in the towel" altogether. The only way out is through. This book gives his personal account of spontaneous Kundalini Awakening, which is the physiological mechanism of union of mind, body and Spirit. Through a disciplined approach to wellness, yoga and self-inquiry on such topics relating to Spirit, yoga, culture, society, history, philosophy, psychology, relationships, religion, freedom, genetics, evolution, mathematics, numerology, science, energy, astrology, love, paradise, eternity, consciousness and the universe; Chris established the connection with the subtle body through his energy centers (chakras). His story is there to assist any reader in making the same connection and progressing on the path of spiritual growth and development.
Global Raciality expands our understanding of race, space, and place by exploring forms of racism and anti-racist resistance worldwide. Contributors address neoliberalism; settler colonialism; race, class, and gender intersectionality; immigrant rights; Islamophobia; and homonationalism; and investigate the dynamic forces propelling anti-racist solidarity and resistance cultures. Midway through the Trump years and with a rise in nativism fervor across the globe, this expanded approach captures the creativity and variety found in the fight against racism we see the world over. Chapters focus on both the immersive global trajectories of race and racism, and the international variation in contemporary configurations of racialized experience. Race, class, and gender identities may not only be distinctive, they can extend across borders, continents, and oceans with remarkable demonstrations of solidarity happening all over the world. Palestinians, Black Panthers, Dalit, Native Americans, and Indian feminists among others meet and interact in this context. Intersections between race and such forms of power as colonialism and empire, capitalism, gender, sexuality, religion, and class are examined and compared across different national and global contexts. It is in this robust and comparative analytical approach that Global Raciality reframes conventional studies on postcolonial regimes and racial identities and expression.
Dick Fehnel worked as higher education consultant for the World Bank, Ford Foundation and the Human Sciences Research Council. He held the positions of acting representative (1998-1999) and programme officer (1993-2000) for the Ford Foundation, Southern Africa, after which he semi-retired to Portland, Oregon, and continued to travel and consult until his death in May 2006. The transformation of South African higher education became his raison d'tre in the last stage of his career. He loved participating in debates and seminars, and was always responsive to funding requests for urgent transformation issues pertaining to the emerging new system. Dick did not leave himself enough time to finish the last project of his career (perhaps an unintended lesson for us). During the period leading up to his "ultimate deadline" (two to four weeks according to his doctor), Dick dictated his thoughts while his wife, Dorene, transcribed, completing a full circle from the start of their courtship, when she used to type his term papers. The lack of time deprived Dick of one of his favorite activities - reflections leading to lessons.

In the face of the current environmental crisis—which clearly has moral and spiritual dimensions—members of all the world’s faiths have come to recognize the critical importance of religion’s relationship to ecology. The Wiley Blackwell Companion to Religion and Ecology offers a comprehensive overview of the history and the latest developments in religious engagement with environmental issues throughout the world. Newly commissioned essays from noted scholars of diverse faiths and scientific traditions present the most cutting-edge thinking on religion’s relationship to the environment. Initial readings explore the ways traditional concepts of nature in Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and other religious traditions have been shaped by the environmental crisis. Readings then address the changing nature of theology and religious thought in response to the challenges of protecting the environment. Various conceptual issues and themes that transcend individual traditions—climate change, bio-ethics, social justice, ecofeminism, and more—are then analyzed before a final section examines some of the immediate challenges we face in caring for the Earth while looking to the future of religious environmentalism. Timely and thought-provoking, Companion to Religion and Ecology offers illuminating insights into the role of religion in the ongoing struggle to secure the future well-being of our natural world. With a foreword by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, and an Afterword by John Cobb
