This collection is composed of a few subject files and an extensive collection of financial records for the Department of Health and Environmental Sciences.
This collection is composed of subject files from the various bureaus under the Health Services Division. The largest concentration of records stems from the Nursing Bureau and the Family/Maternal Child Health Bureau.
These records (1907-1998) of the Director's Office of the Montana Department of Health and Environmental Sciences consist primarily of subject files (1949-1998) including correspondence, hearings, minutes, reports, speeches, budgets, legislative study committee files, and miscellany. Included are minutes and other records of the Montana Board of Health and the Montana Board of Health and Environmental Sciences (1907-1993) and Montana Comprehensive Health Planning (1970-1984), and Montana Telecommunications Advisory Panel (1990-1997). These records (1907-1994) of the Montana State Board of Health and its sucessor the Board of Health and Environmental Sciences consist of minutes (1907-1994); reports (1925-1964) from the Missoula City-County Health Department and from state health officers concerning typhoid fever in Warland, Stevensville, Helena, Thurlow, and Libby; liscensing laws for hospitals, state public health plans; and industrial hygiene of the Zonolite Company of Libby. Also included are materials removed from a scrapbook on the history and activities of the Montana Health Planning Committee from 1946 to 1950. The Food and Drug Division subgroup includes general and interoffice correspondence, court papers, press releases, field investigation and other reports, speeches, subject files, and miscellany.
