I decided to write my books based on my experiences of raising my child as a single mother. My daughter would always come home from school asking me questions. Why don't I have a dad? Truth be told there are so many children with absent parents unfortunately, we just never hear about it. Life is not perfect, and my goal is to come out with so many stories about me raising my child as a single mother. During reading time in school, we should have more books available that show single parents of cartoons that show reality. My goal is to inspire parents to keep persevering no matter the circumstances.

The ultimate must-read handbook for the modern mother: a practical, and positive tool to help free women from the debilitating notion of being the "perfect mom," filled with funny and all too relatable true-life stories and realistic suggestions to stop the burnout cycle, and protect our kids from the damage burnout can cause. Moms, do you feel tired? Overwhelmed? Have you continually put off the things you need to do for you? Do you feel like it’s all worth it because your kids are happy? Are you "over" being a mother? If you answered yes to these questions, you’re not alone. Parents today want to create the ideal childhood for their children. Women strive to be the picture-perfect Pinterest mother that looks amazing, hosts the best birthday parties in town, posts the most "liked" photos, and serves delicious, nutritious home-cooked meals in her neat, organized home after ferrying the kids to school and a host of extracurricular activities on time. This drive, while noble, can also be destructive, causing stress and anxiety that leads to "mommy burnout." Psychologist and family counselor Dr. Sheryl Ziegler is well-versed in the stress that moms face, and the burden of guilt they carry because they often feel like they aren’t doing enough for their kids’ happiness. A mother of three herself, Dr. Z—as she’s affectionately known by her many patients—recognizes and understands that modern moms are all too often plagued by exhaustion, failure, isolation, self-doubt, and a general lack of self-love, and their families are also feeling the effects, too. Over the last nineteen years working with families and children, Dr. Z has devised a prescriptive program for addressing "mommy burnout"—teaching moms that they can learn to re-energize themselves and still feel good about their families and their lives. In this warm and empathetic guide, she examines this modern epidemic among mothers who put their children’s happiness above their own, and offers empowering, proven solutions for alleviating this condition, saving marriages and keeping kids happy in the process.

What do indoor picnics and funny face contests have to do with loving Jesus? More than you realize! As a mom in the throes of parenting, Courtney DeFeo believes that instilling virtues in children starts with laughter, not lecture. That perspective propelled her to create this idea-packed book, in which she offers motivating reflections, real-life stories, and a sandbox full of inventive ways to help you turn your kids’ hearts toward God. Each chapter focuses on one virtue that is key for developing your child’s character. Along with insights into how this virtue plays out in the nitty-gritty of life, Courtney includes a memory verse, activity ideas, and discussion questions to reinforce that virtue throughout the month. Here you’ll find a full year of ways to draw your children closer to God through delightful antics like Family Olympics, One Fancy Feast, and Light ’Em Up. In This House, We Will Giggle shows you how to capture the hearts of your children through fun—so that they experience the goodness of Christ, the joy of following Him, and the difference they can make in the lives of others. Winner of a British Medical Association Book Award A Brain Pickings Best Science Book of the Year Early birds and night owls are born, not made. Sleep patterns may be the most obvious manifestation of the highly individualized biological clocks we inherit, but these clocks also regulate bodily functions from digestion to hormone levels to cognition. Living at odds with our internal timepieces, Till Roenneberg shows, can make us chronically sleep deprived and more likely to smoke, gain weight, feel depressed, fall ill, and fail geometry. By understanding and respecting our internal time, we can live better. “Internal Time is a cautionary tale—actually a series of 24 tales, not coincidentally. Roenneberg ranges widely from the inner workings of biological rhythms to their social implications, illuminating each scientific tutorial with an anecdote inspired by clinical research...Written with grace and good humor, Internal Time is a serious work of science incorporating the latest research in chronobiology...[A] compelling volume.” —A. Roger Ekirch, Wall Street Journal “This is a fascinating introduction to an important topic, which will appeal to anyone who wishes to delve deep into the world of chronobiology, or simply wonders why they struggle to get a good night’s sleep.” —Richard Wiseman, New Scientist
Because super-active children push the boundaries of society’s expected behaviors, moms of the hyperactive often feel alone, misunderstood, and judged while also being exhausted from handling that high-energy child. Tommy's Wired and Mommy's Tired offers hope to these mothers through inspirational narratives based on the challenges Rita Bergen faced when parenting her hyperactive son. From her son's prenatal circus to out-of-control toddler years and an electrical childhood, Rita’s anecdotes care for the needs of the mother by addressing a variety of topics specific to moms, such as coping with emotions, managing your world, and understanding the realities of hyperactivity. Tommy's Wired and Mommy's Tired offers empathy and inspiration, not child-raising formulas or behavior management tips. Many great books give advice for managing hyperactive behavior, yet these don’t immediately improve a mother’s fatigue because consistently implementing all the advice is a non-stop, exhausting job. Therefore, Tommy's Wired and Mommy's Tired seeks to inspire courage rather than teach child-raising strategies—offering perspective and hope to moms who face the difficult work of raising a super-active child. The content also includes a letter from Rita’s adult, hyperactive son in which he thanks moms of wired children for their tireless effort, assuring them that all their blood, sweat, and tears are worth it in the end. A bonus section of Frequently Asked Questions provides helpful tips to family and friends who desire to help a struggling mother.
