Mister Ed was a phenomenon. Alan Young's career was a horse of a different color. He galloped from life as a child radio performer to co-writer and star of one of the first live TV shows, the Emmy Award-winning "Alan Young Show." But once in the saddle on "Mister Ed," Alan was off to the races. Told with his characteristic wit, Alan's charming story chronicles the life and times of a certain talking horse and his buddy Wilbur.
Mr Big is strong, Mr Big is tough, Mr Big is . . . well . . . BIG! He has just one small problem - because of the way he looks he just can't get people to stick around. How can he show them that although he may look a little scary, he is just a great big softy inside? With his trademark bold colour and masterful graphic simplicity, Ed Vere sensitively and humorously tackles the universal and current subject of inclusion, reminding the reader that to get to know someone you need to look beyond their exterior. This is the third picture book from an exciting new talent, whose previous titles The Getaway and Banana have received great critical acclaim.
A seductive maelstrom of a debut, largely inspired during eight years of eavesdropping in New Orleans.
What happens when you reexamine your priorities and make an effort to spend quality time with someone important in your life? In 1997, I embarked on my first overnight backpacking trip. My two brothers and my 69 year old Dad, Mr. Ed, set off on a ten day trip on the Appalachian Trail. I thought it was a once in a lifetime experience. I was wrong. Mr. Ed and I would continue to take the annual hikes for another ten years. The hikes would provide me with some of the most challenging, beautiful, and rewarding experiences in my life. Meeting Mr. Ed: A Journey of Discovery on the Appalachian Trail was inspired by this experience. This is a travel journal documenting the challenge and beauty of the Appalachian Trail. More importantly, it tells the story of Mr. Ed; a Korean War veteran, a coach, and a father of five. Through reflection and stories shared along the trail, I recount the life of a man who was driven to serve his country, his family, and his community. Without the need for fanfare or even credit, Mr. Ed set out to make the world a better place, often one person at a time. Visit us on the web at www.meetingmred.com.
This story is about a little girl being abused and a young man with a drinking problem. They work things out together in a lyrical way. I offer the story to young and old to open their minds to new possiblities. My hopes is when a child and adult reads the book it opens debate between the two. I tried to write the book in a creative way so the child is more at ease with the conversation. And also maybe open a door to humanity.
The relationship between humans and animals has always been strong, symbiotic and complicated. Animals, real and fictional, have been a mainstay in the arts and entertainment, figuring prominently in literature, film, television, social media, and live performances. Increasingly, though, people are anthropomorphizing animals, assigning them humanoid roles, tasks and identities. At the same time, humans, such as members of the furry culture or college mascots, find pleasure in adopting animal identities and characteristics. This book is the first of its kind to explore these growing phenomena across media. The contributors to this collection represent various disciplines, to include the arts, humanities, social sciences, and healthcare. Their essays demonstrate the various ways that human and animal lives are intertwined and constantly evolving.
Donald and Spider’s family operations are churning, fast and furiously. Nate has taken a distinct dislike to people on the internet who think they can say anything, with impunity. Silver can help with that. Karen does not like the filth on the internet. She is not too happy with the filth, in the American streets, either. Silver can help with that, also. Donna and Donnie have decided that it is time to make something of their lives. And why not? They will be two years old, soon. What should they do? Cure cancer? End the violence in America’s inner cities? Create a multi-billion-dollar business that lifts the residents of those inner cities out of poverty? Why not all of the above? Silver can help with that, as can the rest of their family team. The obstacles of city hall, the unions, organized crime, and, of course, other aliens, are no obstacles, at all, to Donald’s family. The opportunities are limitless, when Silver gains sentience. Spider says that is impossible for a machine to feel. Silver says that the word ‘impossible’ is no longer relevant. He may be correct.
