Journey of the Messiah—The Awakening is written from a first-person point of view, as if Jesus is telling His story. The life of the Son of God is told from before His incarnation in eternity, through His young life, and into His journey from the wilderness temptation to Galilee. The story holds closely to the biblical accounts recorded in the Bible for this thirty-year portion of His life. While little is recorded of the early years, much of the journey is left to our imagination. Such moments of His departure from Heaven, conception, and Awakening to His Messiahship are shared in this book. In these pages, the personal experiences of the Son of God, as the Son of Man, are explored and pondered. Come and take this journey in the sandals of Jesus the Messiah; experience His life, listen to His voice, and hear the beat of His heart from the glories of Heaven to the dusty roads of Earth.
Are you settling for half the story? Highlighting connections that have been hidden from non-Jewish eyes, Rabbi Jason Sobel will connect the dots between the Old and New Testament, helping you see the Bible with clarity as God intended. Most people—even people of faith—do not understand how the Bible fits together. Too many Christians accept half an inheritance, content to embrace merely the New Testament, while Jewish people may often experience the same by embracing only the Old Testament. But God has an intricate plan and purpose for both the Old and the New. In Mysteries of the Messiah, Rabbi Jason Sobel reveals the many connections in Scripture hidden in plain sight. Known for his emphatic declaration “but there’s more!” he guides us in seeing the passion and purpose of the Messiah. This is the third novel based around the character of D.C.I Steven Price by Joseph and Linda Pye. It is the fourth book to be published in eighteen months by the couple who only met in 2008. Joseph has had the stories in his head for a long while and has even written them in the past although never got them published. Linda writes the female parts and edits the books and they work together well as a team. The first three books are now in the local library and are being well received by customers as they are often out on loan. The accompanying photo was taken in Queensland, Australia, where the couple spent five weeks visiting family, having a 'mock up' wedding so that Joseph's sister Marilyn could be there as she couldn't make the real one later in the year, her husband Derek, is a marriage celebrant over there. We made many good friends during out time over there and miss them all lots as we do our family and friends that we don't see so often
An attack ... an angel ... an adventure. Have you ever wondered what it might be like for a family in Jesus' time - parents who are older than most, and their two sons - one just taking his first steps from boyhood into manhood? In this fictional story you'll meet Benjamin and Miriam, Jacob and Isaac, and others who cross their path. As you look at Jesus, perhaps in a way you never have before - through the eyes of children, you'll see the events of Easter, as though they were happening right in front of you ... and if you're anything like me, you might cry a little. But I won't tell you whether Benjamin and his family have a happy ending - that would spoil the surprise!
The New Messiah is a novel of personal discovery set in the 1970's. Neal Shelley is an idealistic poet who falls in love with a woman he meets while hitchhiking across America during the Bicentennial summer of 1976. But despite the storybook beginning, the love affair soon fades and Neal is left disillusioned and searching for answers in his life. In his disheartened state, he conceives a utopian plan to launch a new messiah movement which he hopes will end his and everyone else's unhappiness. He enlists his charismatic friend, Andrew Moore, to pose as a modern-day savior. They begin their mission with a sermon on the Venice Boardwalk. The initial sermon succeeds brilliantly but then Neal's plan takes an unexpected turn as Andrew starts to truly believe he is the Chosen One. Inspired by actual events, The New Messiah shows how American youth culture in the mid-1970's-characterized by a quest for higher consciousness; pre-AIDS sexual promiscuity; recreational drug use; pop mysticism; irreverent humor; and cynicism and alienation in the post-Watergate "malaise" era-was the soil out of which a messiah movement could grow. One of the most striking features of The New Messiah is its play-like format. The story is told through the conversations of the characters. The authenticity of the dialogue in the party scenes, street scenes, and intimate one-on-one scenes will no doubt be appreciated by readers who lived through that time period. College-age readers today may also find much to identify with in the novel's depiction of 70's youth culture.
A New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice Selection A history with sweeping implications, American Messiahs challenges our previous misconceptions about “cult” leaders and their messianic power. Mania surrounding messianic prophets has defined the national consciousness since the American Revolution. From Civil War veteran and virulent anticapitalist Cyrus Teed, to the dapper and overlooked civil rights pioneer Father Divine, to even the megalomaniacal Jim Jones, these figures have routinely been dismissed as dangerous and hysterical outliers. After years of studying these emblematic figures, Adam Morris demonstrates that messiahs are not just a classic trope of our national culture; their visions are essential for understanding American history. As Morris demonstrates, these charismatic, if flawed, would-be prophets sought to expose and ameliorate deep social ills—such as income inequality, gender conformity, and racial injustice. Provocative and long overdue, this is the story of those who tried to point the way toward an impossible “American Dream”: men and women who momentarily captured the imagination of a nation always searching for salvation.
The Life and Work of Messiah is written for individuals interested in acquiring a spiritual, psychological, and relational understanding of Messiah. It traces the concept of Messiah from its beginnings in prophecy through His coming in the person of Jesus of Nazareth to dwell among men. It surveys the events of baptism and temptation as preparation for His public ministry and the calling of twelve ordinary men to be His disciples. Special attention is given to the things Jesus does to establish Himself as Messiah in the minds of the people, such things as creating food to feed the hungry, healing the infirm, giving sight to the blind, delivering those possessed of unclean spirits, and raising the dead.
