The History of the Wasinger Family and the Leikam Family and the Times They Lived is a genealogy study into the families that have married into the Drake family. This study is based on the families that married into the Earl Rothwell Drake family. This study includes the marriage of Earl Rothwell Drake to both Dorothy Leona Leikam and Wilma Munch Wasinger. The study traces their ancestry back to their origin in Russia and Germany. Particular interest and attention was focused on the Volga River region in Russia, where German immigrants founded their farming communities. The study takes into consideration the hardships they faced in migrating from Germany to Russia. It also identifies some of the political reasons that forced the German colonies to relocate to America from Russia. This book attempts to report the immigration of German-Russian families to Kansas and identifies the ships that they sailed on to immigrate to America. It describes world events that occurred during their lifetimes that had an effect on their existence. The study was developed from family data available to the author. It includes war records for selected individuals drafted into World War II. This study is a dedication to my family.
George Hobson, Sr. (ca. 1677-1748), was born in England, and died in Frederick Co., Virginia. He was an apple farmer. George and his wife Elizabeth supposedly arrived in Philadelphia in 1697 from England. They had not been definitely located until 1732 when they are found in Orange Co., Va. They had one son, George Hobson, Jr. (ca. 1716-1797), born in Chester Co., Pa. and died in Chatham Co., North Carolina. He married (1) Hannah Elizabeth Kinnison (ca. 1717-1761), daughter of Edward Kinnison and Mary Greenaway, in 1732 in Burlington Co., N.J. He married (2) Rebekah? ca. 1761. Fourteen children are recorded in this book, he supposedly had twenty. Descendants live in North Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon, Arkansas, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Kansas, California, North Dakota, Utah, Arizona and elsewhere.
Another Dead Author is a journal and collection of short stories by Joseph F. Moore. Joseph was an inspiring writer, who passed before publishing his work. In passing he left his work to his son, J. Thomas Moore, in hopes Thomas could continue the dream no longer achievable by his own means. Thomas has taken his father's work and created a book not only of what words were written by his father, but also an important message at the beginning due to current world chaos. In Joseph's journal he writes of the chaos in the mid 1950's up through the late 1960's: The Korean War, The Six-Day War, The Biafran Struggle, The Cuban Missile Crisis and several others at that time. Thomas created a reflection of the then and now to hopefully open the eyes of the people in the world today and show that these situations have not changed, only continued to get worse. With Joseph's short stories, you can see the innocents of humanity at the time with simple stories like dreaming of flying to other planets, when at the time, man had not even entered space. Truly a unique retrospective.
