You need three things to be a mage: Magical talent (which everyone accepted to the Mage Academy has), training (which is what you go to the Mage Academy for), and a dragonlet to sit on your shoulder and guide you. It’s near hatching time and the newest class of mages has arrived at the Academy. As always, YOU decide where the story goes from there. Will you follow the class to the crowded marketplace for a public hatching, or will you instead go to the quiet atrium in the library? Will you follow the student with strong emotions and a fear of crowds, or the nonstop talker who loves to meet new people? Meet the mages and learn their powers. The first class of Mage Academy is in session!

Joel is a powerful water mage, but can he end a drought? That is is his trial, to bring water to a land that is dying without it. You are his dragonlet familiar, and he needs your help. Will you tell him to call down a great rainstorm, or will you suggest he talk to his friend Anya, the air mage, for help? Each trial you face is tougher than the last, and this is your toughest yet. This time, there is more than one way Joel can fail. The proctors will have you do the trial four times; each time you will make different choices and see a different ending. You want Joel to pass the trial, but what the Mage Academy wants is for you to learn. Which choices are the best choices and why? Come find the best way to help Joel, so that he can save a dying land!
A student mage who loves to be the center of attention stands in an empty field for his first trial. To pass, he must find a way to feed the nearby village. This is Mikkel, and you are his dragonlet familiar. He can’t do this without you. Should he go to the library to study spells, or try to bargain with other earth mages to fill the field with crops? Should he try to cast his own spell, or should he talk to the villagers? You will help him decide, and then once he has decided, you must figure out what he needs. Because this is a story about being a good friend and helper, both to others, and to the most important friend you will ever have: yourself.
Anya is at the top of her class and the best air mage the Academy has had in ages, but can she save a village from a cyclone? It’s the most difficult trial yet, and it’s your job to help. Will you tell her to figure out the right spells on her own, or work with other students? Who should she recruit when the storm draws near, lighting is crashing all around, and cyclones are tearing up the land? Her goal is to save the village, but little does she know that you’ve got a magical advantage. The test proctors will let you try the test four times with the help of a time portal. You’ve got four chances to guide Anya to save the village. You hope for success, but you must learn when you fail. Because learning is what these trials are all about. Make the best choices you can!
Reyna thought her mage trial would be a simple test, but there’s a forest fire raging and the Mage Academy needs her to put it out. You are her dragonlet familiar, and she needs your help. Will you tell her to get other student mages to join in, or have her take on the fire alone? The proctors have a time portal and will have you do four versions of this test. Why? Because that is how you learn, by trying different things. The fire is Reyna’s test. YOUR test is to learn all the ways she can pass, and how she might fail. That is how you can be a good guide to Reyna, and more importantly, to yourself. Because life can be like a test that you take over and over. What matters isn’t how quickly you pass, but how well you learn. Come face the flames with Reyna; she can’t do this without you!
