"A taut, compelling family tale." –Kirkus Reviews Millington Valley is a quintessential small Pennsylvania town: families go back generations. Football rules. Kids drink while adults look the other way. High school is a whirlwind of aspiration and rivalry, friendship and jealousy. When smart and pretty Molly Hanover moves to town and attracts the attention of the football team’s hero, Wade Thornton—a nice guy with a bad drinking habit—longtime friendships are threatened and a popular cheerleader tries to turn the school against Molly. The young couple’s future is shattered when Wade, drunk, wrecks his truck and Molly is thrown through the windshield. She wakes from a coma to find her beauty marred and her memory full of holes. As she struggles to heal, she becomes sure that something terrible happened before the accident. And there is somebody in the valley who doesn’t want her to remember.

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Read with Jenna Book Club Pick as Featured on Today • As a young mother facing a terminal diagnosis, Julie Yip-Williams began to write her story, a story like no other. What began as the chronicle of an imminent and early death became something much more—a powerful exhortation to the living. “An exquisitely moving portrait of the daily stuff of life.”—The New York Times Book Review (Editors’ Choice) NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The New York Times Book Review • Time • Real Simple • Good Housekeeping That Julie Yip-Williams survived infancy was a miracle. Born blind in Vietnam, she narrowly escaped euthanasia at the hands of her grandmother, only to flee with her family the political upheaval of her country in the late 1970s. Loaded into a rickety boat with three hundred other refugees, Julie made it to Hong Kong and, ultimately, America, where a surgeon at UCLA gave her partial sight. She would go on to become a Harvard-educated lawyer, with a husband, a family, and a life she had once assumed would be impossible. Then, at age thirty-seven, with two little girls at home, Julie was diagnosed with terminal metastatic colon cancer, and a different journey began. The Unwinding of the Miracle is the story of a vigorous life refracted through the prism of imminent death. When she was first diagnosed, Julie Yip-Williams sought clarity and guidance through the experience and, finding none, began to write her way through it—a chronicle that grew beyond her imagining. Motherhood, marriage, the immigrant experience, ambition, love, wanderlust, tennis, fortune-tellers, grief, reincarnation, jealousy, comfort, pain, the marvel of the body in full rebellion—this book is as sprawling and majestic as the life it records. It is inspiring and instructive, delightful and shattering. It is a book of indelible moments, seared deep—an incomparable guide to living vividly by facing hard truths consciously. With humor, bracing honesty, and the cleansing power of well-deployed anger, Julie Yip-Williams set the stage for her lasting legacy and one final miracle: the story of her life. Praise for The Unwinding of the Miracle “Everything worth understanding and holding on to is in this book. . . . A miracle indeed.”—Kelly Corrigan, New York Times bestselling author “A beautifully written, moving, and compassionate chronicle that deserves to be read and absorbed widely.”—Siddhartha Mukherjee, Pulitzer Prize–winning author of The Emperor of All Maladies
The author, a computer science professor diagnosed with terminal cancer, explores his life, the lessons that he has learned, how he has worked to achieve his childhood dreams, and the effect of his diagnosis on him and his family.

Letters of Encouragement from a Mother to Her Son is pretty much made up of nine letters that were written by a mother to her only child, her son who has to spend time locked away from family. Out of the nine letters, the last one has not yet been read by my son. By this time, if you are reading this, my son has also. After each letter, there are scriptures and teaching that one could ponder on and apply to their life so that they may be encouraged and lifted up and know that they are not alone. Most of us young and old never pick up a Bible, so God has appointed those that are led by the Holy Spirit to be a light to the world. I pray that this book will reach and bless many who read it, and I pray that those who apply the Word of Jesus to their life will be encouraged and changed in a way that draws them closer to Jesus Christ. Maybe they would even give their life to Jesus, if they haven't already, then assemble themselves around those who love the Lord so that they may continue to grow in the Lord our God and pass it on to the next, spreading the love of God. Amen! Be encouraged.
I Need You to Know is a book of family reading, however you might want to define ‘family’. First and foremost, it is a book about the history of Fionn’s family, as narrated by his mother, whose motto is “Tell (almost) every truth.” While it’s a story about two particular families coming together as one, it also explores the nature of family generally, the imperfections, jealousies, and secrets that lie side by side with its loyalties, unconditional love, and frankness. Family are the friends you can’t avoid. Erin’s advice to her son on living with family is somewhat longer and more positive than Lord Chesterfield’s 18th Century advice to a young man contemplating marriage: “Don’t.”
