Cette étude porte sur la qualité des relations parents-enfant (représentations parentales et interactions dyadiques) ainsi que sur le développement de l'enfant au cours des 18 premiers mois après la naissance d'un enfant grand prématuré (né avant 33 semaines de gestation). L'étude porte sur 80 dyades mère-enfant (50 avec un bébé prématuré et 30 avec un enfant à terme). Les analyses de régression ainsi que les modèles d'équations structurales montrent que l'expression par les mères de signes de stress post-traumatiques suite à la naissance prématurée représente un risque pour la qualité des interactions et des représentations maternelles, ainsi que pour l'alimentation et le sommeil de l'enfant. Des interactions mère-bébé de bonne qualité assurent, quant à elles, de meilleures chances, à l'âge de 18 mois, pour le développement intellectuel et moteur de l'ancien grand prématuré. Ces résultats soulignent la nécessité d'interventions précoces suite à une naissance à risque afin de mieux accompagner les parents confrontés à un tel événement et soutenir au mieux le développement de leur enfant.
