The two-volume set LNCS 10295 and 10296 constitute the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Learning and Collaboration Technologies, LCT 2017, held as part of the 19th International Conference on Human-Computer Interaction, HCII 2017, in Vancouver, BC, Canada, in July 2017, in conjunction with 15 thematically similar conferences. A pressing challenge in the modern health care system is the gap between education and clinical practice. Emerging technologies have the potential to bridge this gap by creating the kind of team-based learning environments and clinical approaches that are increasingly necessary in the modern health care system both in the United States and around the world. To explore these technologies and their potential for improving education and practice, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine hosted a workshop in November 2017. Participants explored effective use of technologies as tools for bridging identified gaps within and between health professions education and practice in order to optimize learning, performance and access in high-, middle-, and low-income areas while ensuring the well-being of the formal and informal health workforce. This publication summarizes the presentations and discussions from the workshop.

This book addresses the issues confronting educators in the integration of digital technologies into their teaching and their students’ learning. The total of 1439 papers and 238 posters included in the 37 HCII 2020 proceedings volumes was carefully reviewed and selected from 6326 submissions. The papers in this volume are organized in the following topical sections: communication and conversation in learning; cognition, emotions and learning; games and gamification in learning; VR, robot and IoT in learning; and collaboration technology and collaborative learning. As a result of the Danish Government's announcement, dated April 21, 2020, to ban all large events (above 500 participants) until September 1, 2020, the HCII 2020 conference was held virtually.
