Destiny's Journey is a memoir reconstructed partly from notebooks that Döblin kept from the time he worked in the French Ministry of Information in the spring of 1940 and partly written without notes in Los Angeles where he took refuge during the Second World War. It tells the personal and generational story of the flight of Jewish and anti-Nazi intellectuals from Europe to America, their fear and frustration, isolation, and inability to work. Döblin’s story differs from that of other Jewish intellectuals and artists in that his family converts to Catholicism in Los Angeles. Unlike most of them, he returns to Europe as an officer with the French forces and works on denazifying German literature. The conversion narrative bridges the departure from and return to Europe. To critic John Simon, “the latter part of the book often reads like a shrill piece of Christian homiletics. But even this is not without interest, as it traces the transformation of an anarchic outsider into a dogmatic insider.” “The first part of ‘Destiny's Journey’ [about] Döblin's departure from Paris [in] 1940... is magisterial: acidly observed, saturated in telling detail, grimly comic and harrowing... with an exemplary introduction by Peter Demetz... an important, nourishing book” — John Simon, The New York Times
"A divine destiny lies within you. It was placed there before you were even born. But there are no ruby slippers to whisk you away to your destiny. Life is a journey and we must all take it one step at a time. Journey To My Destiny will lead you on an inspiring discovery of who you are and why you are here. Moreover, author Stacie Gaynor pulls back the curtains that have hidden your dreams for far too long, revealing mountain-moving insights that empower you to remove the barriers standing between you and your destiny."-- P. "There!" You finally made it. You have reached the goals that you had set. Yet somehow you feel like something is missing and you set out on another adventure to reach your next "There". Have you ever wondered where the proverbial "There" is? Have you ever thought that if you could just get "There", everything would work out fine? In life, it seems as if people live in the extreme of one mind set or the other. They view "there" as a place, rather than a journey. People seem to always be seeking and yet not finding their "There". In Getting There, David Limerick teaches that destiny is a journey to be enjoyed and that the proverbial "There" is found in walking out the journey of your life. David teaches you how to change your mindsets and to receive peace that comes with knowing you are walking out your purpose and destiny.
Desy was part Organic, part Genetic. She had been created in a lab, and looked nothing like her family. She hated the fact that she looked different from her brothers. She grew up listening to her brothers tell a family legend that had been handed down through many generations. The legend promised that someday a brilliant orb of light would appear. And, on that day a mystical transformation would take place. A selected ancestor of days long forgotten would find a special person, and together they would travel to a place beyond tomorrow. Now, Desy's world was about to come to an end. It had been abused for too many generations, and there was no longer any hope for a future. As Desy sat and cried under a scraggly tree, she unknowingly wrapped her fingers around a shiny stone fragment. Suddenly, her world spun and disappeared, leaving her swirling inside a purple mist. When she stopped spinning, she found herself just beyond tomorrow.

We live in a time where success has been overrated, and the process is downgraded. God is a God of process and even Jesus went through a process, times of suffering when he had to offer "prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the one able to save Him from death (Hebrews 5: 7 NASB). Every believer in the fulfillment of their destiny or purpose will need to understand that they will go through the wilderness or a process stage, this is inevitable. Jesus our Lord and Saviour in His human form is our typical example. What we do in our process stage and how we understand our wilderness test and respond to it may differ from each other. Everyone on their way to their promised land will have to go through a process whether they like it or not. The wilderness is a hard place and it varies among each of us but it is essential for our lives even though it is painful. While a desert season feels terribly wrong and loneliness and despair may seem to reign, God is with you and He desires to use the wilderness for your eternal good. To reap its benefits, however, you must understand its nature, the purpose, and the who behind it. You will need to also understand how to navigate your process and wilderness state, the spiritual strategy to go through the process God is taking you through. You will also need to have a spiritual understanding of the process to see the performance and get the reward of passing your wilderness test. The Process is a prerequisite for the performance because it is what built into us the necessary character, virtues, and spiritual stamina needed to sustain the performance. In other words, God will first prepare you for what He has prepared for hence why the process is necessary. This book focuses on the premise that process precedes promotion and waiting on God concerning anything is not a waste of time rather a time to depend on and trust God the more and grow in your reliance and dependence on God. The word PROCESS was well examined with each letter been fully explained in relation to the journey to destiny. Where P is Purpose & Preparation; R is Realignment & Redirection; O is Obedience & Opportunity; C is Courage & Commitment; E is expectation & Endurance; S is Submission & Surrender; S is Supplication & Stand. It gives you an understanding that without the process there cannot be a performance of the promises of God, it is therefore important that we embrace the process God is taking us through for the performance to come to pass.
