The internet of things (IoT) has emerged to address the need for connectivity and seamless integration with other devices as well as big data platforms for analytics. However, there are challenges that IoT-based applications face including design and implementation issues; connectivity problems; data gathering, storing, and analyzing in cloud-based environments; and IoT security and privacy issues. Emerging Trends in IoT and Integration with Data Science, Cloud Computing, and Big Data Analytics is a critical reference source that provides theoretical frameworks and research findings on IoT and big data integration. Highlighting topics that include wearable sensors, machine learning, machine intelligence, and mobile computing, this book serves professionals who want to improve their understanding of the strategic role of trust at different levels of the information and knowledge society. It is therefore of most value to data scientists, computer scientists, data analysts, IT specialists, academicians, professionals, researchers, and students working in the field of information and knowledge management in various disciplines that include but are not limited to information and communication sciences, administrative sciences and management, education, sociology, computer science, etc. Moreover, the book provides insights and supports executives concerned with the management of expertise, knowledge, information, and organizational development in different types of work communities and environments.
This edited book presents scientific results of the International Semi-Virtual Workshop on Software Engineering in IoT, Big data, Cloud and Mobile Computing (SE-ICBM 2020) which was held on October 15, 2020, at Soongsil University, Seoul, Korea. The aim of this workshop was to bring together researchers and scientists, businessmen and entrepreneurs, teachers, engineers, computer users, and students to discuss the numerous fields of computer science and to share their experiences and exchange new ideas and information in a meaningful way. Research results about all aspects (theory, applications and tools) of computer and information science, and to discuss the practical challenges encountered along the way and the solutions adopted to solve them. The workshop organizers selected the best papers from those papers accepted for presentation at the workshop. The papers were chosen based on review scores submitted by members of the program committee and underwent further rigorous rounds of review. From this second round of review, 17 of the conference’s most promising papers are then published in this Springer (SCI) book and not the conference proceedings. We impatiently await the important contributions that we know these authors will bring to the field of computer and information science.
The IoT is the next manifestation of the Internet. The trend started by connecting computers to computers, progressed to connecting people to people, and is now moving to connect everything to everything. The movement started like a race—with a lot of fanfare, excitement, and cheering. We’re now into the work phase, and we have to figure out how to make the dream come true. The IoT will have many faces and involve many fields as it progresses. It will involve technology, design, security, legal policy, business, artificial intelligence, design, Big Data, and forensics; about any field that exists now. This is the reason for this book. There are books in each one of these fields, but the focus was always "an inch wide and a mile deep." There’s a need for a book that will introduce the IoT to non-engineers and allow them to dream of the possibilities and explore the work venues in this area. The book had to be "a mile wide and a few inches deep." The editors met this goal by engaging experts from a number of fields and asking them to come together to create an introductory IoT book. Fundamentals of Internet of Things for Non-Engineers Provides a comprehensive view of the current fundamentals and the anticipated future trends in the realm of Internet of Things from a practitioner’s point of view Brings together a variety of voices with subject matter expertise in these diverse topical areas to provide leaders, students, and lay persons with a fresh worldview of the Internet of Things and the background to succeed in related technology decision-making Enhances the reader’s experience through a review of actual applications of Internet of Things end points and devices to solve business and civic problems along with notes on lessons learned Prepares readers to embrace the Internet of Things era and address complex business, social, operational, educational, and personal systems integration questions and opportunities
Internet of things (IoT) applications employed for healthcare generate a huge amount of data that needs to be analyzed to produce the expected reports. To accomplish this task, a cloud-based analytical solution is ideal in order to generate faster reports in comparison to the traditional way. Given the current state of the world in which every day IoT devices are developed to provide healthcare solutions, it is essential to consider the mechanisms used to collect and analyze the data to provide thorough reports. Integrating AI in IoT Analytics on the Cloud for Healthcare Applications applies artificial intelligence (AI) in edge analytics for healthcare applications, analyzes the impact of tools and techniques in edge analytics for healthcare, and discusses security solutions for edge analytics in healthcare IoT. Covering topics such as data analytics and next generation healthcare systems, it is ideal for researchers, academicians, technologists, IT specialists, data scientists, healthcare industries, IoT developers, data security analysts, educators, and students.
