Mary McDonald digs deep into her gospel background for this rousing original song of unrestrained praise. Opening with original music, it showcases the choir with gospel harmonies and choral call-and-response. The favorite spiritual "Im Gonna Sing" makes an appearance as the piece drives to its exciting conclusion through sequencing keys and an optional tenor solo.
There is no easier way to introduce children to harmony and part-singing than "the Round." What an ingenious concept -- everyone sings the same thing, just beginning at different times! The beauty of this structure is the ease of teaching this type of song, and the satisfying results for both the singer and the listener. The six titles in this collection are: I’m Gonna Sing My Praise, I’ll Walk with Jesus, When Will the Little King Come?, Thank You For Christmas, Say I Love You, and New Life.
Each volume of Sing & Shout Songs for Children's Ministry is packed with contemporary music that's tons of fun. Kids (and adults) will love to sing along with these bright, upbeat songs. Perfect for teaching kids the importance and joy of praising God while they worship in a way that's all their own.
Bill Bay asked me to write a follow up book to my last book, "The Bluegrass Pickers Tune Book (20233). If you like Bluegrass music (232 songs) I'd recommend getting that book to add to your collection. the focus of this book, the Acoustic Source Book is on roots and old-time music. the book is focused on the time period from late 1800's until 1940's. There are a few songs from the Bluegrass Book that were too important to be left out. I decided not to use any patriotic and Christmas songs and came up with a list of about 400 songs which eventually was cut down to over 200. During the late 1800's and early 1900's there was an important evolution in American music; the birth of jazz, ragtime, and blues. This was also the period of the phonograph and early commercial recordings. Music from the Minstrel period as well as traditional songs were used as staple for the roots musicians. In the early 1900's there were rags, blues, gospel, Tin-Pan Alley, jug band, spiritual, old-time country and popular songs. I've tried to include some of the well-known songs from every genre to give you a big slice of Americana. There are some great songs that are popular roots, bluegrass and old-time songs today that have never been published. There are also great songs that are not well known that should be played and enjoyed.Richard Matteson with Kara Pleasants Wildwood Flower http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KO9Xde2bdwA Paul & Silas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bv5Tmaff9HQ Meet Me By the Moonlight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gwzCZfnG64 Scarborough Fair http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grbxMlz_DlI Water is Wide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-hZkxWs8gs Richard Matteson with Jessica KasterBarbara Allen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uX6PE80W4Pw In the Pines http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtOL9Id5TW4 Hop Along Peter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5kAzSQ__rU Ain't Gonna Lay my Armor Down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsBYRuT2_FU

Dear Reader, I want to personally thank you for selecting my second poetry book to read, which you may have purchased or received as a gift. This book is a continuation of a personal journey for me dealing with the theme of, Listen. I believe we truly only hear a fraction of what is spoken to us, which is highly dependent upon one's individual interest. My quote on the front cover is evident of this, I believe it's unfortunate that so often we hear words but don't really listen to them!!! I hope that you be able to identify and connect with some of these poetic sketched impressions on listening that may relate to your own personal experiences covering a full spectrum of emotions. Enjoy! In keeping with the theme Listen! the ear used on the front cover and other graphics was created by my nephew Leander, Jr., now 10 year old. The author's portrait on the back cover was drawn by my niece Nakia when she was five years old in November 2000, which has a prominent spot on my refrigerator. This is the second of several books in the Poetically Sketched poetry series. In the future I plan to include children's books and short stories. Thank you and have a Blessed One!!! Debra C. Ridgeway
