This book aims to advance the knowledge on the future of business education in South Africa and to allow all relevant role players (universities and industry) the opportunity to debate and share ideas on how to best position business education to optimally serve the interest of students and the dynamic changes taking place in the world of work. Although some of these changes have taken shape before 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need and pace for change. If business schools (in our context, faculties of economic and management sciences) do not adapt rapidly, they will be left behind by other up-and-coming industry providers. The research scope covers all business-related undergraduate and postgraduate economics, management and accounting programmes, excluding MBA programmes.

Cancer is the second leading cause of death. Every year, many anticancer drug candidates are discovered and synthesized, but the major challenge lies in identifying, characterizing and evaluating their efficacy. The aim of this Research Topic, "New Mechanisms for Anti-Cancer Drugs" is to collect a group of publications focused on novel chemical compounds exhibiting new modes of actions and/or new target proteins to fulfill their cytotoxic activity on cancer cells. In this context, we will also be pleased to consider studies on drug repurposing, including approved, discontinued, and shelved drugs, when anti-cancer activity results from an unexpected mode of action.
Cancer Immunotherapy apart from checkpoint inhibitors is a highly personalized medicine that puts the patient's cells in the focus of drug manufacturing and promises outcomes that rarely have been seen in the history of cancer treatment. CAR-T cells can be mentioned here as the key example that has gained FDA and EMA approvals as the first living drugs for the treatment of leukemias and is now under clinical investigation for application in solid tumors as well. Improvements in cellular engineering in combination with advanced sequencing methods have made it possible to discover tumor-mutation-specific T-cell receptors that can be used to redirect effector cells toward the malignant cell pool with high specificity. This approach opens the opportunity to drug driver mutations that are occurring in a group of patients as well as to design unique patient individual treatment regimens.
Chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy remain the main treatment options for most cancers. However, cancer treatment is associated with numerous adverse effects, including fatigue, stress, hair loss, pain, nausea, vomiting, anemia, altered immune system, oral and intestinal mucositis, which significantly affect patients' quality of life. In addition, the adverse effects may be associated with additional costs, morbidity, and mortality that affect various aspects of the patient's life, including physical health and emotional state. The management and reduction of adverse effects are extremely important and complex and are primarily aimed at providing comfort to the patient during chemotherapy treatment. In addition, it is important to note that in some cases, the severity of side effects associated with cancer treatment may result in the need to reduce the dose, which in turn may be associated with a reduction in the therapeutic efficacy. In view of this, the identification of new options aimed at alleviating the side effects and increasing the tolerability of chemotherapy is necessary to ensure the quality of life of cancer patients.
