Excerpt from A Historical Sketch of the Shuford Family According to the best information given me, a man by the name of John Shuford left the State of Pennsylvania, before the war of the Revolution, and came South, and settled in the western part of North Carolina. The beautiful farm upon which he settled is found upon the west bank of South Fork River, in what is now Catawba County, North Carolina. That part of the farm upon which he built his house and lived is now in the posses sion of Mr. Lee Whitener, of Hickory, N. C.
