Heartaches unto Grace is a story that is like millions of others. Perhaps it is like your very own story today. It is about a husband who is totally dedicated to his country. The author says, “I was honored to have been a military wife for twenty years during my husband’s army career. I never doubted that God was carrying my heavy load of heartaches. My anger, bitterness, rejection, and self-pity were inconceivable. I learned that nothing could stop an addicted spouse from drinking except prayer.” When the author attended Al-Anon’s Twelve Steps program and learned of New Thought’s spirituality, it grieved her heart. She says, “Our heavenly Father gives us what we cannot achieve ourselves—His gift of grace by the Lord Jesus Christ!”
Where Is God? There are never quick fixes or easy answers when it comes to suffering. But even when we can't immediately see God's hand—when the struggle is hard and painful—he is working. Weaving together Scripture, personal stories, and the words of the classic hymn "How Firm a Foundation," David Powlison brings an experienced counselor's touch to exploring how God enters into our sufferings, helping us see God working in our own particular struggles—and discover how God's grace goes deeper than we could ever imagine.
“If there were a Guinness Book of World Records entry for ‘amount of times having prayed the sinner’s prayer,’ I’m pretty sure I’d be a top contender,” says pastor and author J. D. Greear. He struggled for many years to gain an assurance of salvation and eventually learned he was not alone. “Lack of assurance” is epidemic among evangelical Christians. In Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart, J. D. shows that faulty ways of present- ing the gospel are a leading source of the confusion. Our presentations may not be heretical, but they are sometimes misleading. The idea of “asking Jesus into your heart” or “giving your life to Jesus” often gives false assurance to those who are not saved—and keeps those who genuinely are saved from fully embracing that reality. Greear unpacks the doctrine of assurance, showing that salvation is a posture we take to the promise of God in Christ, a posture that begins at a certain point and is maintained for the rest of our lives. He also answers the tough questions about assurance: What exactly is faith? What is repentance? Why are there so many warnings that seem to imply we can lose our salvation? Such issues are handled with respect to the theological rigors they require, but Greear never loses his pastoral sensitivity or a communication technique that makes this message teachable to a wide audience from teens to adults.
Mending of a Broken Heart: The Nature of Meaning and the Purpose that Gives Life Hope speaks with a distinctive and evocative voice. It brings to the world of words and the thoughts they convey the unique experiences of a man struggling to pass through the deeps of loss and to emerge with a trustworthy grasp on life's meaning and purpose. The author, James Michael Castleton, an award-winning physician, shares his journey in both prose and poetry. The blend captures the nature of life-sometimes lyrical and mystical and majestic, yet often prosaic and focused on finding a path upon which one can place each foot in turn, just to make one's way through the day. Mending of a Broken Heart does not shy away from life's sharp edges or from exploring how they strike at the roots of relationships. As Dr. Castleton notes in beginning his reflections, We are born with a broken heart, Born with a sorrow we can only later articulate, Born missing the most essential aspect of what we need to live a fulfilling life ... Born without a sense of meaning. Mending of a Broken Heart explains the distinctions between happiness and meaning and explores how having a valid purpose and holding to true hope contribute to giving meaning to one's life.
From My Heart is a book of God-given words, verses, and notes that I have been writing in journals, on pieces of paper, and in my Bible for a long time. In November 2016, I had open-heart surgery, and I remember very early the following morning after my surgery that they wanted me to sit up in a chair, stand up, and walk across the room. I was thinking, There is no way. At that moment, I prayed and asked God to let me feel His presence because I could not do this by myself. Immediately, I felt God's presence over my heart and entire body. He was with me every second of the day from that point on as I healed. The blessings from God were and are daily; and I wanted to share my thankfulness with others for how God's presence, goodness, grace, and peace were with me then and still are today. I started compiling my writings into a devotional blog, and my brother Bill strongly encouraged me to put the blogs into a book. So, here we are! Writing this book was full of challenges and harder than I could have imagined, but it was also full of God's blessings and rewards. I owe a great debt of gratitude to so many! A heartfelt and huge thank-you to my daughter, Cori, and her family; my son, Matt, and his family; and to my husband, John; their love, support, and prayers helped me through many rough days. I am especially grateful for my brother Bill and the encouragement and prayers from his family, my brother Frank and his family, my sister Faye and her family, my sister Jeanette and her family, and my best friend forever, Sheila. A big and special thank-you to my friend, Peggy, for her second set of eyes. To all my family and friends who have cared, prayed, encouraged, supported, loved, cried with me, and helped nurture my dream of writing From My Heart, I love you all so very much. I am deeply grateful to every person and every stage that transformed my rough draft into a book at Christian Faith Publishing, especially Jordyn, my publication specialist, who was always kind, helpful, and patient. I pray this book will bring glory to God, bless you with His presence and peace, encourage you, and give you hope daily. Love in Christ, Tera

Life is a journey of joyful moments and painful moments, including twists and turns that threaten to undo us. But if we allow God to work through the joy and the pain, that journey can lead to the life-sustaining richness of His Grace and an intimate relationship with Him. That truth is the core of international speaker and teacher Darlene Sala’s new women’s devotional, Journey into Grace. With Darlene’s heartfelt voice alongside two coauthors, including her daughter, Bonnie, the 150 readings explore themes such as fear, forgiveness, learning, loving, prayer, and relationships. This book offers women quiet moments with God as they bring their real life challenges to His feet.
