It is recommended that maintenance dredging in Georgetown Harbor be performed at 6-month intervals. Dredging depth would be 29 feet from the outer bar in the Atlantic ocean to Station 890+OO. Maintenance would be performed in this reach on an annual basis except for the reach between Stations 720+00 to 790+00 which would be on a biannual basis. Dredging depth would be 31 feet from Station 890+00 to the Georgetown turning basin including the side channel, with maintenance being performed on a biannual basis. Implementation of the plan would be at an estimated first cost to the Federal government of $1,058,400 for new work. Annual maintenance costs would increase $309,000, yielding a total annual maintenance cost of $1,339,000. Implementation of the plan would be contingent upon the sponsor's ability to provide a minimum of an additional 400 acres of suitable disposal areas. It is further recommended that implementation of the above be expedited as the future development of this harbor and the economic potential of the area will be affected.
