Vampires are everywhere! They are your politicians. They are your best friends. They are the most elite and affluent, and they are the homeless. They have infiltrated every aspect of human society, and we don't even know it! For thousands upon thousands of years they have lived amongst us! Lied to and deceived by our governments, generation after generations, civilization after civilizations. Bewildered and befuddled by vampiric and magical charms, humanity remains ignorant. Our hope lies in Draco's awakening! He and his wife, Princess Phoenix, are the only ones who, can and want to save us all! Draco's Awakening is an epic vampire fantasy tale. The first novel of the nine book Draco and Phoenix saga. A story filled with all manner of mystical, magical, and mythical beings, and that isn't even the outlandish part! Vampires are real! They are not the fictional creatures society would have you believe!
The sacrament par excellence, the Eucharist, has been upheld as the foundational sacrament of Christ's Body called Church, yet it has confounded Christian thinking and practice throughout history. Its symbolism points to the paradox of the incarnation, death, and resurrection of God in Jesus of Nazareth, which St. Paul describes as a stumbling-block (skandalon). Yet the scandal of sacramentality, not only illustrated by but enacted in the Eucharist, has not been sufficiently accounted for in the ecclesiologies and sacramental theologies of the Christian tradition. Despite what appears to be an increasingly post-ecclesial world, sacrament remains a persistent theme in contemporary culture, often in places least expected. Drawing upon the biblical image of "the Word made flesh," this interdisciplinary study examines the scandal of sacramentality along the twofold thematic of the scandal of language (word) and the scandal of the body (flesh). While sacred theology can think through this scandal only at significant risk to its own stability, the fictional discourses of literature and the arts are free to explore this scandal in a manner that simultaneously augments and challenges traditional notions of sacrament and sacramentality, and by extension, what it means to describe the Church as a "eucharistic community."
This tour of the scientific frontier makes a strong case that the alternative science of today will be the hard science of the future.
RELEASE DATE SEPTEMBER 28th 2021 I'm The Preacher's Daughter and they're four beach gods. My windsurfing champions. Our game was supposed to have no strings attached but against all odds-I care. We're all new at relationships and my father and his church aren't the only thing threatening to tear us apart. Secrets and rivalries, old and new, are driving a wedge between us, but staying together isn't only what we want-it's what we need. Dad is determined to bring me back into the fold, where women are seen as nothing more than men's property, and I'm determined to be free. Will I be able to save myself and the men who own my heart? *Warning: this book is the conclusion of a duet and ends in a HEA. **However readers be warned that while Ausra's story will come to a conclusion, the book will end on a mini-cliffhanger that will be the beginning of Lynda's story and her own duet The Preacher's Wife.
In these games, the prize is success in school—and life. Having good social skills doesn’t just affect classroom behavior—it’s the key to making learning stick. When students improve their self-regulation, social communication, and perspective-taking competencies, they are better prepared to challenge themselves academically, take on tough tasks, and collaborate with teachers and classmates to achieve real, lasting school success. And since these skills also improve life outside school, the benefits come full circle. Designed for both explicit instruction and "learning by doing," this practical guide provides hands-on activities that are easily adapted into any curriculum and can be used in general education, special education, after-school settings, and in the home. The design of each game keeps kids engaged and motivated, while educators benefit from clear, thorough explanations that unpack the complexities of social learning. Other behind-the-scenes features include: Evidence-based, teacher-tested lessons Anecdotes and real-world examples Links to relevant research Expansion ideas for applying learned skills to broader situations Templates and reproducibles for easy implementation This curated collection of activities puts social-learning theory into practice, helping even the most challenging children develop the social skills necessary for real success in school—and beyond.
What if my dad's best friend finds out all my books' sexy heroes are based on him? If it hadn't been for that mean professor sophomore year, I never would have written an essay about my crush on Navy surgeon Commander Aiden McBride. (Yes, he's just as deliciously stern as that sounds.) And if it hadn't been for my new best friend Ingrid, I wouldn't have thought to turn the essay into the steamy novel that launched my career as an indie romance author. I'm grateful, really! There's just a couple of teeny-tiny things I would do differently if I had it to do over again. But thankfully you can update ebooks, so nobody ever has to know. Phew! I've never expected Aiden to see me as anything but his best friend's daughter, and I'm okay with that. He mostly ignores me anyway. But graduation means I'm too old to hide behind a school-girl infatuation. It's time to move on. If he'll let me, that is. Because somehow Aiden found out what I did. He's not happy. And now I seem to be falling deeper in love. You can tell me the truth - am I totally screwed? Busted is a full-length standalone romance with no cliffhanger and an HEA.
A riveting account of the ways in which man's darkest impulses conflict with common sense. From the lessons learned in "Paradise Lost" and the events which transpired in the tales of "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" and "Frankenstein" to unlocking the secrets of the atom, Shattuck's brilliant synthesis of history and literature is utterly relevant to our times and addictively readable.
