EPS - High Energy Physics '89 presents the proceeding of the International Europhysics Conference on High Energy physics, held in Madrid, Spain, on September 6–13, 1989. This book outlines several topics on the interface between cosmology/astrophysics and particle physics. Organized into two parts encompassing 181 chapters, this compilation of papers begins with an overview of the implications of the cosmic light element abundances. This text then examines the various aspects of lattice field theory. Other chapters consider the theoretical evidence of a fundamental length in string theory and outline the main features of the higher order corrections to the heavy quark inclusive cross section. This book discusses as well the theory of heavy quark production in hadron collision. The final chapter deals with the idea of low-energy supersymmetry, which relates the scale of supersymmetry breaking to the origin and stability of the electroweak scale. This book is a valuable resource for astrophysicists, physicists, and scientists.
The Salamfest was held to honor Prof Abdus Salam whose scientific contribution to the development and dissemination of physics has deeply influenced the course of scientific advancement. Colleagues, collaborators and former students met together to celebrate his scientific achievements, and discuss the highlights of recent advances in experiment and phenomenology in particle and condensed matter physics. The Contributors are: A Ali, G Altarelli, L Alvarez-Gaumé, D Amati, J Bahcall, A Chamseddine, R Delbourgo, M Duff, J Ellis, J Feltesse, P Frampton, M Green, G 't Hooft, T Kibble, G Mack, Y Ne'eman, L O'Raifeartaigh, J Pati, R Peccei, S Randjbar-Daemi, Riazuddin & Fayyazuddin, D Schramm, H Schröder, D Sciama, E Sezgin, Q Shafi, C Vafa, S Weinberg, P West, B Winstein, E Witten, C N Yang, A Zichichi and B Zumino.

DPF 90 at Rice University was planned as a major conference of truly international character which reviews recent developments in all areas of particle physics. Plenary session topics include new results from SLC, LEP, pp colliders, Heavy Quark Physics, High Energy Astrophysics. Two-day mini-conferences were held on the following subjects: Electroweak Physics, QCD and Hadron Physics, Theory Beyond the Standard Model, Non-accelerator Physics.
This volume is a collection of review articles on the most outstanding topics in heavy flavour physics. All the authors have made significant contributions to this field. The book reviews in detail the theoretical structure of heavy flavour physics within the Standard Model and its confrontation with existing experimental data. The physics of the top quark and of the Higgs play an important role in this volume. Beginning with radiative electroweak corrections and their impressive tests at LEP and hadron colliders, the book summarizes the present status of quark mixing, CP violation and rare decays. The dynamics of exclusive D- and B-meson decays, the τ-lepton physics and the newly discovered heavy quark symmetries are discussed in detail. The impact of strong interactions on weak decays is clearly visible in many articles. The physics of heavy flavours at LEP, HERA and hadron colliders constitutes an important part of the book. Another significant topic is the possible role of heavy flavours in the spontaneous symmetry breaking of gauge symmetries. Finally the most recent advances in lattice calculations of the properties of heavy flavours and the lattice studies of the dynamics of heavy flavours are presented.
A comprehensive treatment of modern theoretical and experimental particle physics, in two volumes.
