Le livre traite le phénomène du décrochage scolaire au Québec (Canada) d'un point de vue d'un enseignant de français et chercheur à l'université de la Nouvelle Sorbonne Paris III. Le livre se compose de trois parties: à la première partie, On démontre des raisons possibles du décrochage avec queques données statistiques, de l'intimidation et de la violence à l'école. La deuxième partie traite la douance chez les élèves et ses facettes et la dernière partie démontre le décrochage scolaire dans différents contextes et on y donne des solutions possibles.
Les campagnes de prévention se veulent être des outils de transmission des savoirs, et dont le but est de susciter des changements attitudinaux, comportementaux ou représentationnels, auprès des publics auxquels elles s’adressent. C’est dans cette optique que dans le cadre de cet essai, l’auteur a emprunté une démarche d’évaluation des effets éducatifs d’une vidéo de sensibilisation contre le cyberharcèlement destinée aux élèves du primaire, en France. L’auteur poursuit l’objectif de mesurer les effets éducatifs réellement produits par le dessin animé « Internet pas net » auprès d’un groupe d’élèves du primaire. Pour atteindre ce but, il a doublé (modifié) la voix off de la version originale de ce dessin animé dans une seconde version. Dès lors, il s’est agi de comparer les deux supports audiovisuels afin de voir lequel des deux induit des effets sur les représentations des élèves.
