For over a decade the Sower's Seeds books have been a wonderful resource for teachers, preachers, and anyone who has to speak in front of an audience. Now author Brian Cavanaugh has revised and expanded his original volume--with twenty new stories--for old fans as well as a whole new audience. He includes stories of inspiration, warmth, and insight arranged around numerous universal themes ranging from awareness, compassion, perseverance, and wisdom, to such unusual themes as baseball, Thomas Edison, hospitality, and risk-taking. While the majority of stories are anonymous, there are some attributed to well known names like Zig Ziglar, Mickey Mantle, and Theodore Roosevelt. Years before there was Chicken Soup, Sower's Seeds was making readers laugh, cry, and come away with a warm heart. The newest book--like the others in the series--is ideal both for quiet inspiration and for handy, on-the-run fun. This is storytelling at its best.
Paul had a deep concern for the Christians in the churches, which he planted. This is something that is very obvious in the second letter to the church in Corinth and the letter to the Galatian churches. Pauls integrity was being attacked by intruders in Corinth, and he needed to defend himself in order that Christians there would not be destabilized in their faith. One of the things that stands out very clearly is Pauls pastoral heart and care for these Corinthian believers. The letter to the churches in Galatia was also written, following the unsettling effects of intruders into the churches. Wrong doctrine was being taught, and the Christians were in danger of being completely led away from the fundamental message of the gospel that salvation is by grace through faith. As we look back from our position in the twenty-first century, we can be thankful for Pauls uncompromising approach to the gospel.
We all want to experience an awesome walk with Father God—not one orchestrated by the guidelines of others, but one led by the Holy Spirit. With that in mind, Delores Chavis shares a collection of essays, scriptures, and writing prompts that guide spiritual seekers to invite God into their reading and studies and ultimately develop a deeper relationship with Him. Chavis relies on over seventeen years of ministering others to provide personal ancedotes, lessons learned, and accompanying biblical passages that highlight her own walk with God and encourage others to study God’s word, reflect on their own lives and spiritual journeys, and then experience God in practical ways that exceed expectations. Included in her writings are scriptures to study and prompts that inspire self-reflection about the direction Father God has planned for all of us. In this collection of inspirational writings, a seasoned minister shares precious thoughts about her walk with God that invite spiritual seekers to study scripture while contemplating their own lives and walks. “... Twenty-One Writings from the Heart challenges us to experience God’s presence in everyday life where we work, live, or play.” —Chandra Moyer, Coach, Author, Speaker
