Effects of formulation and age of adhesive on joint strength were studied on butt joints of slash pine bonded with an epoxy-resin adhesive. The rigid form of adhesive was changed to a ductile one by adding an elastomer which increased strength, efficiency, and quality of bonded joints. Increased adhesive age reduced joint strength for both rigid and ductile forms. (Author).
