The second man is Douglas Parnell. Douglas is a very poor but extremely industrious drifter. When he arrives in Angel Creek, simply because he’s run out of money, the young man decides to stay. Despite what seems to be Angel Creek’s ability to hold itself aloof from the rest of the country, it is unable to avoid the political tremors that have engulfed the rest of the country.
