Daniel, Joseph's donkey, tells the story of his trip to Bethlehem and the birth of Jesus.
From The Heart is a collection of poetry written straight from my heart as I see the world, both real and fantasy. This earthly life at times has been negative such as when my husband was dying and Farewell To This Earth was written upon his passing. Family memories prompted A Wedding Portrait, Lovely Flowers On The Altar or Sequoia National Park. My first great granddaughters birth suggested A Baby. Complaints about the weather created the poem Hows The Weather? Lost your keys? Wheres The Key put a humorous side to this problem. Mother Nature inspired I Heard A Bird Sing, A Rainbow, A River and The Cool Breeze. Life being what it is inspired Gods Presence, In God We Trust, Let Us Pause. The annual Christmas Story about Jesus birth is told in a different way, from a donkeys point of view as he plods along with Mary on his back and Joseph at his side in Daniel Donkeys Special Trip. Daniel and his stable companions are in awe when the Wisemen appear. Miscellaneous subjects are covered in poems such as Proud To Be An American, Ice Cream, Im A Poet And Know it, to name just a few. Christmas, Easter and the seasons bring change and written words often share what we feel. I invite you to come into my world for a brief time and share the experiences of life with me and me with you. Feel free to laugh, to cry, to feel sad or just inspiration to improve your relationships with others.
Daniel is a long-eared miniature donkey who is bullied by the much older and stronger donkeys, which causes him to stay by himself. Then one day, a man named Joseph comes along and buys him from his kindly owner. On his new adventure, he gets to help carry Joseph's wife, Mary, to Bethlehem so she can have her baby. In the manger, he meets the animals that live there, and they quickly become friends. Together they discover new things about themselves and the new baby. They also learn what his birth means for the world through hope, peace, joy, and love.
The grand design of this volume is to exhibit, under the beautiful symbol of the Star of Bethlehem, the Savior in His personal and mediatorial glory; and to guide the reader to Him as the Lamb of God, who alone can take away sin. While dwelling on the beauty, excellence, and amiableness of Christ, His great atoning work on Calvary has been solicitously held forth, in its all-sufficiency, and as the only hope of a lost world as bringing glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will towards men. It has been the author's aim to present the subject in a scriptural point of view, carefully regarding the divine declaration- 'To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.' It is believed that the doctrines contained in the work are in accordance with the teachings of divine revelation; and that they will, consequently be cordially received by Christians of all evangelical denominations- by all who love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. May the Holy Spirit bring the truths presented in the following pages home to the heart of every reader, with saving power; and make this volume, like the star of Bethlehem, the means of guiding weary souls to the meek and lowly Savior. 'May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.' O You, Who were in Bethlehem born, The Man of Sorrows and of scorn, Jesus, the sinner's Friend! O You, enthroned in filial right, Above all creature-power and might; Whose kingdom shall extend, Until earth, like heaven, Your name shall fill, And men, like angels, do Your will: You, whom I love, but cannot see, My Lord, my God! look down on me; My low affections raise; The spirit of liberty impart, Enlarge my soul, inflame my heart, And, while I spread Your praise, Shine on my path, in mercy shine, Prosper my work, and make it Your.
Centering around the theme of the familiar song "The Friendly Beasts," this intriguing program depicts what the animals who witnessed Jesus' birth might really have been thinking -- if they had human minds. There's humorous interplay among camels, sheep, cows, and the donkey that carried the pregnant Mary as they share their unique perspective on the nativity. This complete presentation allows many different parts of the congregation to participate; speaking roles can be performed in a readers' theater format by adults or youth, young children can portray the humans at the manger in a silent tableau, and musical selections allow the choir to be involved, as well. This adaptable drama can be used not only in church settings, but also in schools or for children's programs. As an added feature, customers with PowerPoint and broadband capability may obtain access to a downloadable PowerPoint presentation to accompany the drama at (http: //www.csspub.com/BeastlyChristmas/). A companion coloring book for young children, based on the imagery in the PowerPoint file, is also available in packages of five. John O.
