Across the EU, populations are shrinking and ageing. An increasing burden is being placed on a smaller working population to generate the taxes required for pensions and care costs. The Economics of Aging presents results from an ongoing National Bureau of Economic Research project. There is long-standing debate on how population growth affects national economies.
