Astrology is a great science based on sound principles and theory of karma through cycles of rebirth. A horoscope is basically a map of zodiac indicating position of planets in various signs/ Nakshatra at the time and place of birth. The delineation of a chart is the science and art of deciphering it as per the knowledge, intuition of the astrologer and divine help available to him. Therefore the first requisite is to have sound knowledge of nature and characteristics of houses, signs, Nakshatra and planets and their inter-relation. Next comes the basic tools like dasha, transit, yoga and divisional chart and their application in delineating a horoscope. Lagna is the single most important factor in delineating a horoscope. It is the very being of the native, his élan vital & basic potential. Unless the seed of a specific quality or event is contained in this basic potential, other planetary indications will not find suitable opportunities for manifestation. Lagna also determines the numbering of houses with lagna being the first. With the change in lagna, the significations of any planet will change drastically, as his house & lordship changes, although the sign & constellation of the planet remain unchanged.
This is part one of the tenth book in a series of 21 Brotherhood of Light Courses by C. C. Zain on the Hermetic Sciences, Astrology, Alchemy, Tarot, Kabbalah and the Occult. Although it is an intermediate-level astrology course on interpreting a natal horoscope, it is suitable for beginning students and is an invaluable resource for every professional astrologer. The reader is introduced to the Hermetic system of astrology in a step by step fashion explaining exactly what an astrological birth chart represents and what it can and cannot do. The book presents a detailed list of what a complete astrological reading might include. It is one of the few astrological textbooks that discuss the interpretation for each of the 36 decanates (ten-degree sections of the zodiac). The book teaches the student how to assess the natal chart for temperament, disposition, mental ability, business factors, finances, vocational selection, fortune with love, marriage, partnership, domestic relations, friends, open enemies and personal restrictions and hidden influences.
Astrology ascribes meaning to planetary events and assumes that the energy that moves the universe has a kind of inherent intelligence. The astrologer maintains that there is a natural resonance between the evolving motion of the universe, and the development of the human soul. For the first time, Adrian Duncan shows how to empower clients and create transformation by harnessing horoscopes. Duncan has created an innovative manual that masterfully guides astrological practitioners and interpreters through every aspect of working with clients. Going beyond astrology simply as a diagnostic tool, Astrology: Transformation & Empowerment shows how to harness perception and sensory states to create positive change in one interpretive session! Part 1 -"Setting the Scene," explains how to read the client before reading their chart. Body language, mind reading, and the elements are touched upon. Part 2 - "The Major Players," depicts specific planetary combinations and what they entail in regard to emotional responses, relationships, and the future. Part 3 - "Transformation Methods," teaches ways to expand awareness of the problem at hand, reframe the reading, expand sensory skills, and discover new communications systems. Throughout, Duncan shares profiles and vignettes of clients that demonstrate his techniques.
Here is the best how-to guide for the intermediate astrologer on the art of astrological divination. Horary astrology is the best method for getting answers to questions of pressing personal concern: Will I ever have children? Should I buy that lakefront property? What happened to my car keys? When used wisely, horary acts like a trusted advisor to whom you can turn in times of trouble.
The author gives a full history of the origins of temperament in astrology, then shows clearly and succinctly how readers can work to assess temperaments themselves. Copious case histories support her technique.

Most text-books, including the one for which I am personally responsible, are mainly of an analytical character and do not attempt to guide the reader far along the path that leads to proficiency in horoscopic delineation. In fact, few attempts have been made to attack this problem, and for a good reason-it is so difficult. Delineation is an art and it cannot be taught as one teaches merely factual knowledge. It comes with experience, if the student have the right inborn aptitudes; that is all that can be said. However, there seems to me to be a sort of border-land that lies beyond the realms of purely text-book teaching and yet is within the scope of instruction. No one can make a student into a good delineator, and, on the other hand, almost anyone with moderate teaching ability can inculcate the alphabet of astrology: between these two extremes there is a field wherein, I think, experience can help inexperience and some general principles can be formulated and explained. This is what I have attempted here, illustrating my ideas in separate chapters that deal with important classes of psychological condition. This book is designed to follow The Principles of Astrology and may be read in conjunction with The Astrological Aspects and The Encyclopaedia of Psychological Astrology. Charles E.O. Carter

In short, this is a well-designed course that provides a solid foundation for anyone who is interested in practicing astrology quickly and with confidence. While many books at this level simply give you a set of techniques and ready-made interpretations, this book will give you a deeper grasp of an art and science that has its expression in the world around us, but its roots in the invisible world of primal origins.
