Compounds with perovskite structures have become one of the focuses in both materials science and condensed matter physics because of their fascinating physical properties and potential functionalities correlated to magnetic structures. However, the understanding of the intriguing physical properties is still at an exploratory stage. Herein, owing to the magnetic frustration prompted by Mn6N or Mn6C octahedra, the abounding magnetic structures of antiperovskites, including collinear antiferromagnetic, collinear ferromagnetic, collinear ferrimagnetic, non-collinear magnetic, and non-coplanar magnetic spin configurations, are systematically introduced through the updated coverage. In addition, owing to the “spin-lattice-charge” coupling of antiperovskites, a large number of physical properties, such as anomalous thermal expansion, giant magnetoresistance, anomalous Hall effect, piezomagnetic/baromagnetic effects, magnetocaloric effect, barocaloric effect, etc., are summarized by combining the discussions of the determined magnetic structures. This review aims to clarify the current research progress in this field, focusing on the relationship between the magnetic structures and the correlated physical properties, and provides the conclusion and outlook on further performance optimization and mechanism exploration in antiperovskites.

The idea for organizing an Advanced Study Institute devoted largely to neutron star timing arose independently in three places, at Istanbul, Garching and Amster dam; when we became aware of each other's ideas we decided to join forces. The choice of a place for the Institute, in Turkey, appealed much to us all, and it was then quickly decided that Qe§me would be an excellent spot. When the preparations for the Institute started, early in 1987, we could not have guessed how timely the subject actually was. Of course, the recently dis covered QPO phenomena in accreting neutron stars and half a dozen binary and millisecond radio pulsars known at the time formed one of the basic motivations for organizing this Institute. But none of us could have guessed that later in 1987 we were to witness the wonderful discovery of the binary and millisecond radio pulsars in globular clusters and, -as if Nature wished to give us a special present for this the discovery in March 1988 of a millisecond pulsar in an eclipsing binary Institu- system, the first eclipsing radio pulsar ever found, and the second fastest in the sky! The discussion of this pulsar, its formation and fate was one of the highlights of this meeting, especially since its discoverers were among the participants of the Institute and could provide us with first-hand information.

An international workshop on Elementary Excitations and Fluctuations in Magnetic Systems was held in San Miniato, Italy, for five days beginning 28 May, 1984. The workshop comprised eight working sessions that contai ned a total of 43 invited talks, and 58 scientists were in attendance from 14 countries. Our aim was to review some topics of current interest in the statistical physics of magnetic materials and models, with an emphasis on theoretical studies and confrontations between these and experimental and computer simulation data. book contains summary papers written by the invited speakers, and This the material will be of immediate interest to graduate students and resear chers engaged in studies of magnetic properties. There is, perhaps, no ef fective way to record and convey the benefit of the numerous discussions between the participants that are a significant integral feature of a work shop.
