How do you defeat a monster that can injure the Gods? All everyone wants to do is catch their breath. With Cadence’s brother and the head of Southern Paranormal Investigations gone, Cadence, Aiden, and Derrick struggle to move past the deaths of those dearest to them. They want to breathe and grieve, taking a moment for some quiet time out of danger. With X’Haldzos released from Scarecrow Farms, however, they have more pressing concerns as one-safe spaces are being demolished. The ghostly team will be shaken to its core as the dangers and casualties mount. Andy is trying to find his way in the now far more complicated and dangerous waters of his job when things take a turn. Now he’s faced with choosing to meet his enemy head on or spending the rest of his life looking over his shoulder. Meanwhile, Cadence is reeling, not only from what happened, but from the implications of what could come as she’s caught in the crossfire of the grim chaos that’s enveloped the world. With X’Haldzos free to roam, no one is safe: not mortal, not spirit, not even the Gods themselves. Breath catching is going to have to wait. He must be defeated. But how? And whose life may it cost this time?
This book includes original, peer-reviewed research papers from the 2023 4th International Symposium on Insulation and Discharge Computation for Power Equipment (IDCOMPU2023), held in Wuhan, China. The topics covered include but are not limited to: insulation, discharge computations, electric power equipment, and electrical materials. The papers share the latest findings in the field of insulation and discharge computations of electric power equipment, making the book a valuable asset for researchers, engineers, university students, etc.
'A brilliant and appealing book. The story it tells is fascinating and compelling, leaving me thirsty to try some of the wines that are its subject' - Tim James, Wine Mag Once upon a time, the region of Champagne produced only still wines - wines that were not meant to sparkle. If a Champagne had bubbles in it, it was faulty, undrinkable, an abomination. How did Champagne go from vin du diable ('devil's wine') to Veuve Clicquot? And how did the rise of a group of artisanal producers in Champagne over the last twenty years challenge everything we thought we knew about this famous wine and region? In Champagne: A secret history, Robert Walters takes us on a journey to visit these great growers. Along the way, he reveals the clandestine history of the region and dispels many of the myths that persist about the world's most celebrated wine style. Controversial and ground-breaking, this book will change the way you think about Champagne.
This book describes a laboratory experiment designed to test the causes and properties of bubbles in financial markets and explores the question whether it is possible to design markets which avoid such bubbles and crashes. In the experiment, subjects were given the opportunity to trade in a stock market modeled after the seminal work of Smith et al. (1988). To account for the increasing importance of online betting sites, subjects were also allowed to trade in a digital option market. The outcomes shed new light on how subjects form and update their expectations, placing special emphasis on the bounded rationality of investors. Various analytical bubble measures found in the literature are collected, calculated, classified and presented for the first time. The very interesting new bubble measures "Dispersion Ratio", "Overpriced Transactions" and "Underpriced Transactions" are developed, making the book an important step towards the research goal of preventing bubbles and crashes in financial markets.
The study of estuaries and coasts has seen enormous growth in recent years, since changes in these areas have a large effect on the food chain, as well as on the physics and chemistry of the ocean. As the coasts and river banks around the world become more densely populated, the pressure on these ecosystems intensifies, putting a new focus on environmental, socio-economic and policy issues. Written by a team of international expert scientists, under the guidance of Chief Editors Eric Wolanski and Donald McClusky, the Treatise on Estuarine and Coastal Science, Ten Volume Set examines topics in depth, and aims to provide a comprehensive scientific resource for all professionals and students in the area of estuarine and coastal science Most up-to-date reference for system-based coastal and estuarine science and management, from the inland watershed to the ocean shelf Chief editors have assembled a world-class team of volume editors and contributing authors Approach focuses on the physical, biological, chemistry, ecosystem, human, ecological and economics processes, to show how to best use multidisciplinary science to ensure earth's sustainability Provides a comprehensive scientific resource for all professionals and students in the area of estuarine and coastal science Features up-to-date chapters covering a full range of topics
Wave breaking represents one of the most interesting and challenging problems for fluid mechanics and physical oceanography. Over the last fifteen years our understanding has undergone a dramatic leap forward, and wave breaking has emerged as a process whose physics is clarified and quantified. Ocean wave breaking plays the primary role in the air-sea exchange of momentum, mass and heat, and it is of significant importance for ocean remote sensing, coastal and ocean engineering, navigation and other practical applications. This book outlines the state of the art in our understanding of wave breaking and presents the main outstanding problems. It is a valuable resource for anyone interested in this topic, including researchers, modellers, forecasters, engineers and graduate students in physical oceanography, meteorology and ocean engineering.
