The hunt for Cinaxus has more than just his and his friends’ lives on the line. The entire mortal realm is at risk. Once the hunt begins, every 6 hours, 100 million mortals and the land they live on will be reduced to sand. The only way to make it stop is for Cinaxus or the other target of the hunt to die. For half a century, Steinberg delved into Michelangelo’s work, revealing the symbolic structures underlying the artist’s highly charged idiom. This volume of essays and unpublished lectures explicates many of Michelangelo’s most celebrated sculptures, applying principles gleaned from long, hard looking.
